All;

Anybody got a line on sweet hand to weapon techniques? I have basically had to grow my own. Aikido, at least in commonly studied form, has great knife defenses, but shitty to none handgun disarms. Sambo, Ninjutsu, Kali and Jujutsu are also good on knife defenses, and Sambo/Ninjutsu/Jujutsu ok on handguns, but... there is always room for improvement.

My one gripe with Segal is in some of his handgun disarms. He did a nice one in Out For Justice (bar scene), and a shitty, dangerous one in Under Siege (muzzle swept the $h!t out of Erica Eleniak) He does have some nice knife defenses (On Deadly Ground...gotta love that redirect into the eye)

appreciate any help you all can give http://www.specialoperations.com/ubboard/smile.gif

um I'd recommend the following tapes, the SCARS Firearms Disarmament and Usage video ( overhead view with field of fire grid is very helpful ), and the following videos are all Vladimir Vasiliev's-Knife Defense, Defense Against Weapons, and Gun Defense ( haven't viewed this one but some gun defenses are shown in the Defense Against Weapons tape and so I'm basing recommendation of this tape off that one )
Hope it helps,
Mac

OK, I haven't checked the forums for a long time, so late as it may be, here goes. SCARS-Hell no! The best disarming tapes out there are:

Unarmed & fearless: Randy Wanner & Bob Taylor good shit. http://www.trsdirect.com

Unarmed & dangerous: James Keating, friend of mine, again good shit. If you call them (800-625-8183), tell 'em Andy W sent you. http://www.combattech.com

Against knife, Defensive edge: Ron Balicki, good drills. http://www.marsystems.com

Pathfinder, if you get the right Kali instructor you will see good weapon (firearm) disarms. If you spent much time with the knife disarms, you will see the link to disarming guns as well. The motions are conceptual, they will work against most anything with slight modifications. While many martial arts will show you a separate technique for each possible situation, kali adapts to the positioning, not the weapon itself. Feel free to ask or e-mail me for more information.

Hope this helps,

Andy
