I am an going back into the ARMY Reserves in June as an 11 series which is infantry to the MARINES who aren't familiar with Army MOS's. I live not far from Camp Lejeune (about 70 miles) and about 125 from Fort Bragg. Is the Marine Corps LINE self-defense system available to Army soldiers also, and if so could a Reservist come down on non-training weekends and train in the system with Marines on base? I am interested in hearing from both Marines and any soldiers to see if non-Marines are training in the system.

LINE is no longer the close combat system within the Marine Corps. The School of infantry does give Close Combat Instructors Course on a regular basis, but in order to attend your command would have to send you.

on Sand Hill at the moment they're teaching a mix of the old 21-150 H2H and Brazillian Jiujutsu
my current unit has no program so I can't tell you what might be going on in various units, although the Rangers have gone to Brazillian Jiujutsu

brazilian, or gracie, juijitsu is almost 100% ground fighting and grappling. its not a very balanced selfdefense system, although it is one of the best for ground fighting. im sure the Rangers have also implemented some striking, choking, throwing, etc.. techniques from other martial arts.

Out of curiosity, what Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques are the Rangers teaching at RIP? From what I've read, potential Rangers must be proficient in 15 or so techniques, and trainers from the 75th were teaching these to the new IBCT's. I have trained in BJJ, I was wondering if someone could fill me in. Thanks.
