Hi,

Has anyone had any experience with the 5.11 "Fire Resistant" Flash Pants & Shirts?

Worth the extra money for PSD work overseas? (They are almost twice as expensive as regular 5.1 clothing)

Thanks,

Adrian

It's up to you. People do get burned...

In order to avoid incessant ribbing from your peers, I'd make certain that there are no brand markings on the slacks. "Flash pants" sounds sort of gay. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

*lol*

Point taken....Hmmm...in that case maybe I'd better skip the "ass-less" option as well...

Are the regular cotton pants not fire resistant? I always thought that cotton took a pretty good beating in the heat department... the 50/50 blends and synthetics are where people are hurting, but then again I've never burned up and didnt't stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night

I was in a Marriott Residence Inn....

Unsure about the 5.11, but I have worn the "Dri Fire" and "XGO" brands of tshirt/boxers. They actually wick well and are not too hot to wear in South Florida. Keep in mind I have only worn them for LEO Ops. They might be an alternative to the 5.11.

Be safe

Cotton doesn't melt like synthetics - which is why I was wondering if the extra money was worth it for "fire resistant" clothing. I think I'll probably just stick with the 100% cotton stuff.

I am going to pick up some Massif Gear Nomex III cool gear t-shirts though - stretchy and wicking like under armor - without all the unpleasant melting and sticking to skin.
