Hello everyone. I am fairly new to this board and have spent some time the past few days looking over a number of the other posts. I am 21 years old, live in Ohio, and for the past few years after high school I have just been working.
Now on to my question...
I have always been interested in the Special Forces and after speaking with the local recruiter, I learned of the 18x option. I've been researching this option as best I can online and from what I have gathered there is an extremely high wash-out rate.
I played a lot of sports all through school and have continued to lift weights ever since, but I can honestly say I've gone running maybe a handful of times since I graduated.
I want to join with the best possible chance of making it through the SF pipeline.
I am mentally determined to make it through, but I don't want there to be any physical reason I cannot complete the training (ie: not making a run time, etc.).
How can I best prepare myself for the challenges I will face during training?
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Negative, Ghostrider. If you had, you would have stumbled upon mind-numbing volumes of workout regimens, advice, ect. on this board, and the internet in general, that has been given out time and time again. Plus reams of books you could order that are filled with the same data.
When it comes down to it, there are an infinite number of ways to fuck a cat. Your "best possible chance" of making SF is to be smart, be in good shape, not be a piece of shit, have a good personality, and to be proficient at basic military tasks. Don't harsh your own mellow by sweating the whole thing. Just go and do it.

Well now that I know how to fuck cats, the sky's the limit, right? :D
I did try using the search function to find some information about training, but not much luck. I did however come across some good advice regarding training your feet for SFAS.
Are there any specific threads you guys know of that have some good training suggestions?

This will lead to 10 pages of worth info, dear sir, if you only go down to the bottom and select "Beginning" in the From The menu.
Oh, forgot to mention a book by Warrior-Mentor called, "Get Selected". There is wealth of info straight from the source.
'Tis a wealth of info on these boards, and this question...it's been asked before.
ncfte91,
You have to do more than hit the search function. Spend some time geting to know this place. And notice that your thread has been moved to "Recrutiment and Prep." Thats clue number 2.

You're old.
LOL. I guess in the present day of 18X-o-rama, I am considered old. When I first started on a team four years ago at age 29, I was the youngest on my team by a decade!
BTW- as far as your quote- Grall was on 72, not 27. Isn't it great how Kaplan busted out with all of our one-liners?
NCF-
Just go ahead and but the "get selected" book. I got it for my younger brother who's gonna join. Ignore all the "hut hut hut" shit like memorizing the ranger creed and focus on the details on how to prepare.

Oh geez... now the cat f'ing cats out of the bag, I thought that was a secret for the Q grads.

I just remember a RIP thread a little while ago for a 34 year old SF guy who was "affectionately referred to as 'gramps' by the rest of his team". There's actually like 4 guys on my team younger than me now- but I'm glad we still have 4 with 20+ years experience
