All,

Our agency may be sending a few of us to this and I'm trying to get any feedback on it prior to any of us attending.

ALERRT - Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response - Train the Trainer.

"Response to the Active Shooter."

Course being offered by the Texas Engineering Extension Service "TEEX." According to our agency's posting, they are the only ones currently certified through DHS to offer this. Checking on that too...

All feedback is appreciated.

Thanks,

A must training for all Uniformed Patrol. Let me know how TEEX does for you guys.

I will check with our part timers here that are Texas officers, and see if any have been to this.

Good luck,

Gents,

I'm the director of operations for ALERRT and one of the three guys on our team that helped form this training group about 6 years ago. TEEX is associated with us in that they assist with the report of training and registering as well as having assisted us through the process to get our curriculum OGT approved. Texas State University handles the grant awards we receive, so they are much more intimately involved in the delivery of the program.

We currently have approx. 76 adjunct instructors from teams all across the state and other parts of the country. The national side of our training is exploding right now. We are trying to replicate what we've done in Texas in 6-8 other states within the next few years. SOT Governor's office and BJA are very good to us and we work our tales off to keep the trust.

We are currently putting on over 120 2-day classes per year in Texas, 30 2-day classes outside the state per year, and approx 15 instructor classes per year nationwide. It appears that is about to double. We also have a program working with DOD - NG right now.

I teach all of the Train-the-Trainer courses and the majority of the out-of-state operator classes, so I'm usually in someone's AO at some point.

Give me a shout if you have any questions.

Thanks bro. Yeah, I'm leaving tomorrow morning for another adventure. Florida for a week. It's a hard life sometimes, but I'm willing to take one for the team.

Are you going to be able to make the conference again next year? It'll be in Austin and we are helping out with the hosting of it. Should be a hoot though we won't be out of pager range, so I'll be drinking tea.

Remember....Bobby Blotzer!!! I'll have some new ones for the game.

Take care.

The training is first rate!!
You will not be disappointed.

TTPOA conference? I'll be there, won't miss it for the world. What hotel is going to host it? Beer at Mother Eghan's Pub, anyone?

cco,

I'll be in the area next week. Hopefully some emergency liposuction causes someone to cancel and you're in!

I'll be in Meridian, MS in two weeks. Any folks around there? Boat Guys? I believe they have us staying and training on base, but we'll be mobile too.

Great class. I took it in 2005 in San Marcos. Top notch instructors.
