Hey guys, I'm new to the forum but have been reading it for a while now. I am reclassing to 37F(Active) and was wondering a couple things: Am I going to stay in the barracks during AIT and language school while my wife and son live in family housing? Also, I'm finding it difficult to obtain info on the tactical side of the house. Can anyone shed some light (is the Selection like SFAS)?
Thanks a bunch.

You will more than likely live in housing off post with your family. No it is not like SFAS.

Howdy, I reclassed Jan-Apr of 06. Currently deployed. First off, if you were an E-4 or below they made you sleep in the barracks the first two weeks, had to be back by 2200. After that you were free to go home at night, then cruise back on to Bragg in the morning. Long haul from Sanford in the morning. If you were a E-4 with pldc or above, you went to a NCO reclass, since I was yet an E-5, I went the first way.
I have heard through the Joe network about there being no more IET psyop, dunno if its true, but then my info would already be out of date. If you would like to specify your questions on the tactical side of the house I would be more than happy to try and answer them per OPSEC.

Hey thanks for the help. I was wondering if there was any way to find out what the tactical selection was like or what it entailed? Also, I know it's housed in 3rd BN/4th POG but does the UIC go any deeper? On a side note, I have to report to SWTG really early, any ideas on what I'd be doing until the course started? Again thanks for the help, it's real valuable.

Ok killer, first go ahead and re-read the SOCNET/Forum stickies and then post an introduction so I know who I am talking to...

I just talked to the 3rd Battalion CSM. There is no Tactical selection. In the future prospects for reclass will be boarded for selection into the MOS but that is it.

The only "selection" type event currently held within 4th Group is for TPD 900.

Now if you're asking if you should be tactically proficient before showing up to the MOS-T course then the answer is yes. I don't know your background or skill level so it is kind of difficult to give you any kind of guidance other than to stick your nose into SH 21-76 and/or FM 7-8.

If you would like to speak with the the MOS-T NCOIC then PM your AKO to me and I'll provide you the contact info.

Roger on 900 being the only selection type process and it is in 9th Bn. As for what you will be doing before the course starts, well, there are always details for graduations. As well as working as opfor, or just building stuff down at Mackall. Who knows though, repainting the office was going on when I was there.
