Has anyone here read "Danger Close"? I read a sample chapter out of it online, and thought it seemed pretty good.

Just wondering if its worth buying.

I recommend that you buy it. I read it a year ago. Mike Yon is a great writer, and has a good story to tell.

As far as the Special Forces aspect, he talks about Selection and Assesment, the Q Course, and his time at the Defense Language Institute (this all took place in the mid 80s so it is a bit dated now - no violations of OPSEC) All very interesting.

I would reccomend it even if you ignore the Special Forces aspect of it, although I realize that is probably why you are interested in it. Yon is an excellent writer when it comes to 'message.' I just wish I could read the full manuscript he alluded to.. I imagine it'd be a mindblower.

Great book, and yes, the full 3000+ pages would be great to pick through.

Buy it and get out your highlighter... has great stuff for any soldier, NCO, or Officer.
