i'm looking for advice on a good low profile gun belt for ccw. i've seen some on the internet, some i like but some seem to scream gun at me. i'm really not in the market for a western style stamped belt. i just want something that will look normal with jeans and support a g23/22.

any comments on the liger from maxpedtion?

thanks everyone.

I have been wearing a liger belt for about 6 months daily. It is comfortable and pretty stiff, will definately hold up a Glock. We actually sell quite a few of the liger belts at our training facility.

The only down side, is that it looks like a plastic belt, in my opinion. If you do get one, get a size or two bigger. I am a 32 waist and the 32 Liger belt is on the last notch, or maybe I'm getting fat???

If you are going with an inside the pants holster, almost any belt will work. I wear everything from a dress belt, riggers belts and regular belts. All hold the weapon secure.

What type of holster are you planning to use? This impacts the belt choices.

i'm using bladetech paddle holsters and in the future i will probably also use a small of back holster for more versatility. i have my nylon riggers belt that works well but doesn't exactly blend well.

I have two of his belts without any of the western stitching. They work great as both a gunbelt and regular old belt with my jeans and such. I really prefer a stiff leather belt and this fits my needs perfectly.

I've been using Blackhawk's CQC belt for the past couple months. Looks enough like an ordinary belt, but much stiffer so it won't sag. As jmiles said about the liger, though, order a size bigger.

Edited to add... I got the carbon fiber in black, and it doesn't scream "gun belt" as much as the photos on the Blackhawk site make it seem.

Agree with the above posts. Go with a stiff nylon belt with those holsters. With the paddle you will want one that is wide enough for the "catch" to secure on and stiff/thick enough not to sag. Same with the SOB holster.

With my normal work wear, I just go to Marshal's and find a bely about 1 1/2 inches that is pretty beefy and buy it. After a while, it gets a weird shape from supporting the holster, but it does the trick.

I used to have a belt similar to the taper. It was great. While wearing a suit, it loooked like like a thin "dress" belt, but was all business. Thanks for the link.

You can never go wrong with Kramer, IMO (not that my opinion's worth much :D.) I've never used his belts, but his holsters are top notch, so I can't imagine the belts would be any different.

If you can get away with wearing a nylon riggers type, I cant recommend the Wilderness Instructors belts enough. I have worn them for a long time. Comfortable and rigid enough to support any gun combo. I like the combat shooters model, but the 5 stitch works just as well and is a bit more flexible. If you have to wear leather, I have used an original Dillon belt and its still going. I think Rosen makes the stuff for Dillon now days. People also seem to like the Mike Snoody's belts, but I have no experience with them what so ever.

Heavy leather 3/4 inch wide, worked perfectly for a Serpa CQC and lasted 2 yrs not too bloody bad. Galco for those festive occations see their website top quality.

I have been using a Liger off and on for about two years now. Works great.
It doesn't scream gun belt. I even find myself wearing casually more and more. Great piece of kit.

Cheers,
ronix.

I've used various Galco belts for the past several years. They are pretty decent and blend in well. Kramer, Milt Sparks, & Mitch Rosen offer some pretty decent stuff. May look pricy, but consider that it will last you a number of years.

I have two complete rigs from them and they are NICE. $50 for a belt that would cost you $125 (plus a several month wait) from Milt Sparks.

These belts are about 1/4"-3/16" thick, but they are still very comfortable.

Rafter looks sweet. I've been looking for a new belt holster rig for a while. I'm tired of all the plastics. I've just about worn out my ThunderRanch Milt Sparks belt. Rafter's appear to be similar in construction at half the price. Now I have to decide what skin to get. I know I want plain cowhide but may get an exotic band. I may try to go with a darker, burgundy died leather I can wear with both suits and casual gear.

+1...I have had mine since 1995 and it is still going strong...looks decent, too. I sprung for the double layered one...no regrets.

Rafters are great belts for the money.. I don't care much for their holsters. No re-enforced mouth is a no go for me. Milt Sparks are my preferred choice for animal flesh holsters.

Placed my RafterSGunleather.com order this week. It took me a while to decide on exactly what I wanted. I needed a good dress rig to wear with suits. I decided on the burgundy shark belt with a cowhide holster and single mag pouch. Both the holster and mag pouch have a matching band of burgundy shark across the top. Now I can't wait to get them in. Definitely some nice looking stuff.

I have been very impressed with the Aker belt I got from Cops Plus. It is thick enough it doesn't sag, but looks like any other dress belt. I have used it with a variety of holsters for ccw use with the Glock 19
