I think that is because all screening has been centralized and they don't want someone waiting around for an Indoc announcement from their local Recon Bn.

Those prereq's are also the minimum needed to get the foot in the door. From what I understand there will be a fitness build up period all must attend and past as well.

SB is correct. The msg doesn't do away with the Indoc, it relieves Recon units from the burden of conducting them and puts it either in the school environment, or formalizes it as a "must pass" course of training.

It's the best thing we ever did on the HM side. Prior to that, only FMF HM's on Lejeune, Pendleton or Oki had a chance to be where Recon units were holding indocs. Once we stuck it into the pipeline (as a CNET-approved job sheet) at a point where the candidate was prepared to pass it, we went from 5 to 25/yr graduates.
