I read Black Hawk Down a few months and I was wondering if there are any other books of similar caliber that some one could recommend. (Any war or conflict)

thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I read a good book it was written by the same guy who wrote "Black Hawk Down", it is about the operation surrounding the Pablo Escobar and is called "Killing Pablo". It is clear and well laid out. Other good special forces books I have read are "The shooting gallery" by Gaz Hunter and "Immediate Action" by Andy McNab. these are not about specific missions but their careers in the special forces but are still good.

A good book that I'm halfway through is Somalia on $5 a Day. Another good SAS bio is CQB by Mike Curtis.

Despite it being fiction, I think a lot of truth can be found in "Sharkman Six" by Owen West. West is a former Marine Recon PL. The book is about a fictional Recon Platoon in Somalia before the TF Ranger days. I liked it and would definitely recommend it.

For some good reading on Lrrps in Vietnam I suggest the six silent men trio and John Buefords "Lurp Team Leader" or just look for anything that is written by Linderer (sp?) or Chambers. All are good books about thier personal accounts and are easy reading. The Force Recon Diary 1969 and 1970 I also found enjoyable. MIA Rescue / Lrrps in Cambodia is a good book about the Cav Blues 1/9.
Thats just a sample. Best bet is to just hit the book store and start picking up books.

I'm really interested in anything about Delta Force and someone let be read their copy of a book called CAG Expert at War. It went into great detail about training, tactics, and weapons. It was a fictional story but based on true past missions so it was a must read. I read it in four days then read it again because it was loaded with cool shit that I never heard before, like Delta Force's real secret name which is the title, CAG or (combat application group. I found the book's website inside it's cover, www.cagexpertatwar.com. (http://www.cagexpertatwar.com.)

A phenomanal book is John Plaster's book on SOG. Also check out the SOG: A photo history. Its sort of a companion book.

One of the things I enjoyed most about Black Hawk Down was that it paralled both sides of the conflict as the story unfolded. Soon after I read BHD, I stumbled upon "Among Lions" by J. Robert Moskin. Its the story of the the battle for Jerusalem, June 5-7, 1967, by a journalist who interviewed the Arabs as well as the Israelis. It also is a yard by yard account of the battle, and reminded me very much of the style of BHD. However, I got my copy used and don't know if its still in print.

Though this book is also fiction I thought that Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six was a good book!...wish they would make it into a movie.

Forgot to ask this in my other post but is Black Hawk Down worth investing my money in? I've heard its an excellent book but I was just wondering. Also, does anyone think the movie will live up to the book, or just be some piece of crap that makes a total mockery of the book and the actual heroic rescue operation?

Another excellent book is The One That Got Away, by Chris Ryan. He was on Andy McNab's Bravo Two-Zero SAS team, but tells the story from a little different perspective. This guy E&E'd like 190 kilometers through Iraq into Syria during Desert Storm.

Black Waters--Don Camsell
First into Action---Duncan Falconer
Quiet Soldier--Adam Ballinger
Green Eyed Boys--Jennings and Weale

Green Eyed Boys is one of the most descriptive books I've ever read. Makes me wish I was born twenty years earlier.

ok i hate to be the guy that shits on every book that people mention (actually pretty much just this one and "The Book of Honor") but, while Bowden did a fantastic job with BHD, when writing Killing Pablo he promised a lot of guys that names would be changed. well suprise surprise, they werent. whether intentional or by mistake, he endangered a lot of operators when he published this one.
