Bail Bondsman Course

I am contemplating getting into the Bail bondsmen field. I found this school (/www.usrecoverybureau.com) that is located with in traveling distance from me. Does anyone have any info on the quality of instruction at this school? Or know of any better training facilities in or around the NY area? Thank you in advance.

As a cop, please enter this field with eyes wide open and really,REALLY, know the laws, not what you are told by some "school". I have seen many bailbondsman run afoul of the law due to "well, they told me I could..."

I might suggest that you contact the bondsmen in your area and find out who they use and who they recommend.

Feel free to PM me. I did it for almost 4 years in the Northwest. Obviously laws differ from state to state. It is not glamorous like TV and there are alot of shady things that go on. Will be more than happy to pass on what I know. I will say that I had no formal training and most of those schools are full of shit.

Just be careful, and be weary of the people that you work with. Can't speak for other AO's, but the bondsmen around here aren't very far removed from the people that they are looking for.
