Are those tactical pants for operators?????? :)

Dockers have the same thing, and you can probably get the color selection you are searching for. While listed at $52, most places I have seen selling them, do so for around $35.

And Dockers (or ANYTHING) is way cooler than wearing 5.11s....

Are those tactical pants for operators?????? :)I heard the phrase recently "Personal Protection Operater."

"Ain't shit we are doing is tactical so therefore you ain't NO operator!":D

SOTB,

I have every type and/or color of Dockers out there. Dockers don't have the pocket configurations these have.

I use the old style 5.11 for the construction site.;)

THESE (http://the-gadgeteer.com/review/dockers_mobile_pant_review) might not be the same things the 5.11s have, but they do look similar....The reason I'm LOL is...there's a SOCNET member that came up with the design a couple of years ago, he sent the pattern to a clothing designer here in CA and WAH-LA!

The idea stemmed from people walking around with the old-style 5.11s and looking like ICs, especially when traveling CONUS/OCUNUS.

If it was up to me...I'd change the entire dress code for ICs: especially for those working in and/or around the embassy overseas. A more "professional" appearance would do wonders giving who they associate with….

....especially for those working in and/or around the embassy overseas. A more "professional" appearance would do wonders giving who they associate with….I wholeheartedly agree.

The only reason I tend to not roll my eyes too much at the use of flight suits today, is 1) the real threat of fire to many whom are involved in explosive attacks, and 2) it has gotten rid of the slovenly manner in which many dress -- a practiced slob-look that I suppose they believe bestows upon them some sort of evidence that they have "been around"....

I prefer Gap outlet cargo pants. Plenty of pockets, durable, and when the year is up, toss them.

Very bad 5.11 experience here, in fact I HATE everything except their "underarmor".

Please don't buy 5.11, DO IT FOR YOUR NUTS!!!

Extra pockets just encourage people to carry and hang more crap than they'll ever need. Some people like that.

I would caution anyone from using them in tactical situations, no matter what the manufacturer states. All the extra loops, pockets, etc...are just another way to get caught up on things while moving, especially vehicle ops.

I'll stick with dockers.

These have worked out well for me...

http://www.dickies.com/wc2/product_list.asp?cat=101&type=A&tdscr=Pants

and my WRANGLERS... (SOTB :P)...

I have to say the dressing over here has improved a lot... Still have some dudes who think they need to be tactical all the time... then justify wearing 5.11's as comfy clothes... I have never worne any that fit.

IMHO 5.11's are cheap hotel pants / NO BALL ROOM...

RAT OUT!!!

5.11's suck. They weren't designed for anyone who has legs bigger than toothpicks. North Face Paramount and North Face Meridian pants work great, are lighter, cooler, and nobody thinks of them as "tactical." When traveling, you can throw on your Crocs and a t-shirt, and look just like any other hippie who shops at REI.

There are some guys out here working in a PSD role that wear nothing but 5.11 gear. I even overheard them saying that 5.11 needed to start making shoes so they could be completely outfitted with "tactical" gear.

I'm not a big fan of Dockers (my Dad loves them though), I prefer Columbia Sportswear pants.

Aside from standard 2 front and 2 rear pockets, the ones I like have a zippered 'security' pocket behind the right front pocket and a small vertical discreet (non-cargo) pocket on the right leg. The vertical pocket is perfect for carrying a small knife or flashlight. The 'security' pocket perfect for money, CC, or ID's. Front right pocket also has a coin pocket, which I like for change or matches or just keeping small shit separate from larger shit.

I've had one pair for a few years and they've stood up fairly well, a microtech will start to fray the vertical side pocket lip a bit after much usage, as I'm sure a 'strike bezel' type flashlight would.

I find them waaaay more comfortable than 5.11 and MUCH less conspicuous. Plus 5.11's just don't feel comfortable in the legs and NUTS area!

Lately I've been getting into the 'zipp off pant to short' versions. Not sure if that's good for PSD work, but it's a great way to have more options and look like your average hippy if you choose to. From a sporting perspective they work great when you want to carry less weight, something that drys quickly, and something that offers lower leg protection should you find yourself slugging it out in swamps or scrub brush.

The Columbia stuff I mentioned in my view is perfect for:

No pant however will help you with this:

AHAHAHAHAHAHA - Motherfucker!

Edit - it should be noted that my only dislike for Dockers is that they're made for Grandpa's.....nothing to do with their quality.....LMAO:D

Okay,
Here's a question?...Does anybody make these "tactical" pants without the pleats on the front? Not only does it make ironing them harder, I've heard that pleats are out fashion wise....I know, don't start! Just curious.

I doogled the following subjects and came up blank, so I would appreciate some answers.

What color is "Tactical Black" and "Tactical Desert Sand". How do those colors compare to the colors black or sand?

Do they have those colors in "Tactical Beach Sand" or is that color only for SEAL types?

Are there different desert sand colors?

Are those tactical colors for operators or only to be worn by tactical operators?

Do operators wear these colors or just tactical operators?

I need to make sure I am clear when I am calling a person a jackass. I mean their is obviously four types of jackasses.

The plain ole normal jackass, the tactical jackass, the operator jackass and tactical operator jackass.

Is it easy to tell which is which jackass is which with all the tactical garb?

Enquiring minds want to know.

Thanks

JP

I have seen all 3 "colors" of the covert Khaki, and they are all just various shades of tan.

So try and picture tan, a little darker tan, and a bit darker tan.

As far as boots go....I have NEVER seen the colors described as Tactical Black and Tactical desert sand but as Coyote and Black

I've always loved Dockers for the way they hold an ironing and light starch and can look good with almost any outfit.

Not having a gusseted crotch obviously limits their utility, but a friend of mine did wear Dockers (minus the tag on the back) for working details in the summertime, and he swore by them for comfort. And cotton or cotton blend beats 100% polyester patrol pants if your leg accidentally brushes against something hot at a construction site-- he learned that the hard way!
