Other than the West Covina (California) PD, what teams in the US integrate K-9 assets into the entry element? (not a quiz...I have no idea)
If you are in the know...questions I have:
1. Are the dogs dual certified (dope/patrol) or single-scope?
2. Any PURELY tactical-use dogs (i.e., no patrol)?
3. What kennels/trainers specialize in tactical dogs other than Baden?
4. Does anyone wish that Gunny Hicks would post a crotch shot or two on his Pictures thread over on the USMCNET? (I don't, but if he does, I'll sneek a peek)

Montgomery County (MD) PD has tried to integrate canine with SWAT. The canine handlers have not been sent to SWAT training. The last I heard the handlers had not been issued the tactical armor. Most of the dogs are dual purpose (patrol/narcotics). Bomb dogs are dedicated to strictly that mission.
I believe LAPD and LASD have, to some extent, integrated their canine teams with tactical elements. Due to your assignment and location, I suspect you have better information on that than I do.
Be safe.

Austin P.D. uses thier K-9's on certain entry situations. The K-9 units train with the team for specific entry scenario's, and they recieve additional training so that they are familar with the team's operational protocol.
The dogs are dual trained, but as for where they purchased the dogs or went for initial certification I do not know.

1811,
I dont think LAPD SWAT and K-9 usuaully work together for tactical entry, but they have been used in conjunction in the past; ie. the werehouse incident where the Glendale detective (his name escapes me) was killed.

Sierra-
I went to EMT school with a bunch of Metro guys, including K-9 handlers, and they said that they DO NOT fully integrate with D-Team, but they train together for ops like the Glendale thing you mentioned.

The school is run by Danny Lamaster.

I've read that Oxnard P.D. Swat and Ventura Co. Sheriff's SWAT integrate their K-9 units with their respective operators on entries.
