Which CAR-15/AR-15/M4/M16 variant(s) does the FBI SWAT and HRT issue? Please state Colt Model number or selector, barrel length, sight (A1 or A2), receiver ("A0", A1, A2 or A3).
Which other longarms and tactical rifles are in service with the FBI?

Cheers

What differnce does it make unless you are on the working end of it.

This is probably as much info as your going to get on a board like this:

FBI SWAT and HRT are using M4's, MP5's in 10mm and the long gunners use a custom rifle built just for them in .308. It starts off as a Remington 700 but they customize it (however, I recently heard they are going to start buying rifles off the shelf). The HRT's uses basically the same rifle but a different barrell which can handle more rounds down range.

Thanks swat1. I knew about the MP5/10A3. The question is, do they really have the M4? Some people use that designation in a rather imprecise way, I have it heard applied to everything from the real M4 (CAR-15A2 R0720) to the M4A1 (CAR-15A3 R0927) to old CAR15A1 R0653 and even semi CAR-15A2 R6520 carbines.
So if anybody has actually SEEN the thing (I sure didn't), I would appreciate a somewhat more detailed description.

Hans, you will find many units using several different variations of all the weapons listed here. Seldom does one unitjust switch everything at once. We tend to pick up new kit as we go and just. For my department I did the last purchase and bought a variation of the M4 for CQB. I had Colt put on the standard A1 upper and M4 bbl and standard carbine handguards. It has worked well for CQB and no sites to be off or the operator to screw with.LOL Just a simple reflex for up close and irons zerod at 100yards.

OK. So nobody will comment on the M4 carbines.
I read in a couple older sources that the HRT used HK33A2 and PSG1 rifles. Are these still used? Is the customised Remington 700 the only tactical rifle in current use? I read it resembles the M40A1 configuration of the USMC?
Concerning the handgun, did the HRT also replace their Les Baer Bureau guns when the SPringfield Bureau Model was adopted in 98 for FBI SWAT?

Cheers
