This guy is a POS. I couldn't help but notice how scripted this seemed, and then I heard the pages turning in the background.
I want to see this guy fried. He says he's "quitting" the Army. He should be considered a non-obligator since he already has 4+ years of AD, but if he's only got 7 years in that would mean he'd transfer to the IRR, assuming the Army works like the Marine Corps. He is absolutely still subject to the UCMJ.
I hope someone has already hooked up him.

I cannot in clear conscience continue to serve a government that is not representative of it's people, and governs in a unconstitutional manner
about 5:10 on the video.
I have made these statements fully aware that I am violating the Uniform Code of Military Justice
7:08
If he were in blue jeans and a t-shirt that would be one thing. But to do it in uniform, wearing both rank and insignia is something completely different.

If he has a problem with the way the Government is ran... Then why not be the quiet professional he is billed to be and do things to get people voting in his community.
Get people in front of the issues instead of using the Uniform as a launch platform.
Organize his Unit, BN and up. Make people aware and make sure he drives the bus with people in it to the voting stations come November.
Now that would be more of a "DO" then a "SHOW"
.02 From a civilian.
I just don't like the whole idea of going on Utube and using our Countries Uniform for this behavior.
DO something...

I was dissapointed that a google search did not come up with any news articles about an upcoming Article 32 for this guy.

Ron Paul will disappoint me if he doesn't come out and reject this soldier publicly.
The medical training was soon interrupted when he received a draft notice and entered the U.S. Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis.[30] He remained in the military during the early years of the Vietnam War.[31] He served active duty as a flight surgeon from 1963 to 1965, attending to the ear, nose, and throat problems of pilots in South Korea, Iran, Ethiopia, and Turkey, but was never sent to Vietnam. Based out of Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Paul achieved the rank of captain[11][32] and obtained his private pilot's license.[17] The experience of performing physicals on helicopter pilot candidates, at a time when he saw many copters being shot down, deeply affected Paul; he later considered his indirect association with the Vietnam War as a catalyst for his rejection of interventionist foreign policy
As a Veteran himself he is fully aware of the importance of serving, even if you do not agree with the current Administration in charge, or the war you're supporting.

I hope that Ron Paul rejects this add.
If his campaign was stupid enough to use this idiot to make a point then I think it will do Ron Paul's reputation more damage than it has already suffered.
While I don't doubt Ron Paul's sincerety I believe he is wrong with his isolationist viewpoint. Some of the things that he has said regarding foreign policy during his campaign and during the debates make him look foolish. An ad like this, if it is indeed coming from his campaign, will reinforce this image of him.
As far as the soldier is concerned, he is a fool, a tool and should be court martialed for discrediting his uniform and branch of service.
He states that he has laid his life on the line throughout the world and criticizes our policies openly, after having sworn to carry them out.
I wonder what his service record is. He sounds like the kind of guy who has probably been a complainer and malcontent all of his life. I wonder how"he laid his life on the line." It would be interesting to know what his MOS is.
At any rate, he should be brought up on charges and court martialed, if he is in violation of the UCMJ. If found guilty he should receive a less than honorable discharge.

Ron Paul will likely ignore this until some reporter brings it up.
Then, if he is to have any credibility whatsoever as a potential Commander in Chief, he will have to denounce it.

This POS, because he did this in the uniform of the US Army, should be charged and be subjected to a court-martial! If found guilty of the various charges, demoted and given a discharge, that fits his violations of the UCMJ.

All:
My evil (yet legal) recommedation on reporting this rat is as follows:
Download Form OSC-13, Complaint of Possible Prohibited Political Activity (Violation of the Hatch Act) from the webpage below.
http://www.osc.gov/forms.htm
Fill it in and fax it to 202-653-5151 or mail it to
Hatch Act Unit
U.S. Office of Special Counsel

Washington, DC 20036-4505
Your complaint/report can be anonymous if you so desire.
If the Regional Command is contacted by Office of the Special Counsel, a non DoD entity, the S*** rolling downhill will be much, much deeper when it finally reaches poor little Zak.
Edited to Add: The more complaints the merrier and make sure you include the URL/web address for the link.

Im sorry, but that kid just sincerely pissed me off, but what pissed me off more is the 7 pages (with a lot more to follow) of comments from people calling him a "hero" and a "patriot." Is he entitled to his beliefs? Sure, we're entitled to believe whatever we want as our nations warriors. But to strip off the uniform, go off on a political rant, and make statements in full knowledge of it violating the UCMJ is dishonorable and SHAMEFUL. I made a comment myself...and trust me it is definitely against the flow of the other comments. It'll be interesting to see those responses.

Outofcontrol, after your post, I opened the link up again to read the comments and I'm speechless ...almost.
Over 800 comments and the vast majority are crying tears praising him.
But hell, look at the source. It's Youtube for Christ's sake. We all know it's a magnet for every pea brain in the world to get their 5 minutes of fame. It's certainly not the first stupid thing I've ever seen on there and it won't be the last.
Enough said. Time for a stiff drink.

OSC called me this morning and said that it might not be covered under the Hatch Act. They are looking into it. I had to resend the link to them. Is it still up? I can't tell from this computer. Site is blocked.

Not sure how it works for Res, but when I worked as an AC/RC advisor w/ the NG, unless they were on AGR status or had been activated, from the best of my recollection, they weren't subject to UCMJ. I may be somewhat misquoting them, but the basic concept is there. Someone smarter on this than me, pls chime in, if I'm out in left fld on this one.
It doesn't change the fact that he's a POS though.

This is sorta what OSC was telling me....:(
I think his appearing in uniform opens him up.
His chain of ccommand can get him if they are smart or creative.

This is sorta what OSC was telling me....:(
That's kind of what I was thinking. Although there are some great people in the Res and NG - there are some real cum stains that, unless they are AGR, even the command couldn't do anything to them, other than telling them to go home.
There's always the possibility of a blanket party, or maybe the CO could order a dreaded "Code Red" (A Few Good Men)!!! :D

DOD 1344.10 prohibits using your official position in partisan activities. I.E. "I'm in the Army, vote for John Smith."
It is not a violation of Federal Law, i.e. the Hatch act, but is a violation of UCMJ, Article 92, Failure to Obey Order or Regulation.
The guy is a reservist and is, for the most part, not subject to this directive. There are directives that he must follow as a reservist if he is personally running for office, but what he's doing is not against this directive.
However, he is in violation of DoD 1334.01, Wearing of the Uniform. Again, UCMJ, Article 92 violation. If his CoC doesn't do anything about this, though, I don't think there's anything else that could happen to him.

I started to look at when wear of the uniform is prohibited. I came up with this out of AR 670-1:
30–7. When wear of the uniform is prohibited
The wear of the Army uniform by ARNG, USAR, retired, separated, and civilian personnel is prohibited under the
circumstances listed in paragraph 1–10j.
Moving on to para. 1-10j:
1–10. When the wear of the Army uniform is required or prohibited
j. Wearing Army uniforms is prohibited in the following situations:
(1) In connection with the furtherance of any political or commercial interests, or when engaged in off-duty civilian
employment.
(2) When participating in public speeches, interviews, picket lines, marches, rallies, or public demonstrations, except
as authorized by competent authority.
(3) When attending any meeting or event that is a function of, or is sponsored by, an extremist organization.
(4) When wearing the uniform would bring discredit upon the Army.
(5) When specifically prohibited by Army regulations.
k. Soldiers will wear headgear with the Army uniform, except under the following circumstances:
(1) Headgear is not required if it would interfere with the safe operation of military vehicles. The wear of military
headgear is not required while in or on a privately owned vehicle (to include a motorcycle, bicycle, or convertible
automobile), a commercial vehicle, or on public conveyance (such as a subway, train, plane, or bus).
(2) Soldiers will not wear headgear indoors unless under arms in an official capacity, or when directed by the
commander, such as for indoor ceremonial activities.
(3) Male and female soldiers are not required to wear headgear to evening social events (after Retreat) when
wearing the Army blue and white uniforms, the enlisted green dress uniform, the Army green maternity dress uniform
(females only), or the mess and evening mess uniforms.
(4) Soldiers will carry their headgear, when it is not worn, in their hands while wearing service, dress, and mess
uniforms. Soldiers are authorized storage of the headgear, when it is not worn, in the BDU cargo pockets. Soldiers
must fold the headgear neatly so as not to present a bulky appearance. Soldiers will not attach headgear to the uniform
or hang it from the belt.
I've highlited what I think applies.
I could certainly dig up more that applies from failure to obey regulations, to not adhering to standards of conduct outlined in DOD directives on ethics.
All Reg and book stuff aside, I'm sorely disappointed in this young man, especially in his total lack of understanding of the possible affects and uses of his "15 minutes" of fame.
If his Chain of Command can't do something with him, we are certainly in trouble.
Video is no longer up on You Tube.... removed by the user.
