We run 40 ton articulated dump trucks perpendicular on a 3:1 slope. It's a bit unnerving especially with a full load in the bed. We needed to prove to MSHA that a berm was not required along a haul road and that a haul truck could run on the 3:1 slope down hill from the haul road.

A 40 ton art. truck might be a bit taller and have larger tires than the JLTV.

It really depends on what they designed it for. It is surprising how well some of those trucks can handle offroad conditions.

Although similar, its not the prototype I saw last Aug at the Nevada Automotive Test Center...

1 thing they said that I can repeat was that the vehicle may have the ability to kneel like a C-5 sort of (think ICE CUBE'S car in "Boyz in the Hood") to allow Soldiers to board easier in armor.

Cool, but makes me think there might just be more stuff to break and fix...

Roger- I made the exact same comment to them- it's a fact tha the more complicated a piece of equipment is, the more likely that Joe (or Hadji) will screw it up...

IF YOU GUYS ARE TALKING ABOUT THE RG 31 VEHICLE I JUST GOT THIS ON MY TEAM AND WE HATE IT, ITS NOT A SOF TOOL , THE ONLY GOOD THING IS THAT IT HAS A KILLER SYSTEM FOR THE HEAVY WEAPONS, AND ALOT MORE SURVIVABILITY.
