Has anyone else seen one. Just saw one and I was wondering if its the first.
Saved his life, was probably sitting under the canopy at or just under a grand.

We had one at PTS a few years back. WO (then Sgt) D had some problems with his main deployment, got fixated, and the CYPRES got his reserve out in time. He had his reserve handle out, but his closing loop was cut, indicating to the riggers that the CYPRES did the deed for him.

Nice. Lucky, but you never let the Cypres open for you...I cant imagine waiting that long. Crazy.

I don't think he was waiting. According to his debrief, he was working the problem, and had just cleared his main entanglement, when the reserve deployed.

I should have been more clear. I did assume there were other saves. I know the Cypres system has been in use for a while. I meant the first US Navy save. It is a great product and I see way too many injuries and deaths related to civilians who jump without it, or a similar device.

Plenty of undocumented ones. Too embarrassed to report it from both the jumper and instructor side. You only really hear about the ones that don't work.
