Anybody in the area interested in shooting in a cowboy action shoot this Saturday shoot me a PM.
I have the gear and the ammo, you just need eye protection.
Trying to help the club get more interest.

SASS rocks, just stay away from Winchester 94s and you'll be fine. Weakest link in the gun is the elevator rampfrom the feeder tube. Rapid fire brakes the ramp.
Otherwise its all good. Hope you all have fun.

If I was close I would be up for it. Cowboy Action Shooting rocks! I have done it, had a great shoot, met great folks. When I quit "Contractor Action Shooting" fulltime...."Piney Creek Jake" will ride again.
What hoglegs are you toteing?

Ruger Vaquero Bisley in .44 Mag, shooting specials. Model 94 in .44 Mag, shooting specials. Winchester Model 98 12 Gauge.
I have a bright stainless vaquero with aftermarket grips made out of some dead african animals horns on it in .45 Colt. When the course of fire calls for 2 pistols I use it.
This isn't SASS sanctioned. 18 or so revolver targets from 5 to 50yds, 21-30 rifle targets(The pistol targets and a couple more further out, out to about 80-90 yds) and 6-10 shotgun targets. We usually shoot it with autos after the cowboy part is done. It's a great way to spend the day.

My 1894 Winchester Rifle, in 38/55, minted in 1899 with a half octagonal half round barrel and with 1/2 mag (only out to the end of the foregrip) begs to differ. I've fired that thing many many times with modern ammo an the lifting mechanism is rock solid.

That sounds pretty cool. Do you know off the top of your head if there is a Utah chapter/club? What does SASS stand for?
