Wanna see some REALLY pissed off Little Green Amphibious Monsters?
1961;off the coast of Dikili, Turkey..6th Fleet. the Med..Filming the action landing scenes for the movie..I was chosen to be on a Poppa boat as Corpsman in case of an accident. The pissed off part? HAH!
Issuing all those Marines WWII ARMY Uniforms, M-1's. etc. We must have hit that damned beach 5 times before they decided it was a 'good enough' war...
All we got out of it was a 'Beer' Party on a sand-bar off the coast of Dilikli, and THAT Was interrupted abruptly by a 7.4 Earthquake. We, of course went ashore and helped the civvies, mostly for Scorpion bites, yeah, Scorpions...
The Irony of all that? my Father died on Utah Beach during the REAL invasion....Dok, Like in Holliday
