On the employment section of their website it lists the requirements but not the available positions.
Are the requirements they list the same for all positions?
Thanks

Deputy U.S. Marshal IS the position. Like special agent is a special agent is a special agent.

Hello again, RobertUnoDosTresCuatro....
I checked into US Marshal's when I got off active duty. If you don't mind uprooting every two years, the pay ain't too bad for someone sans tie downs, sans kids.

I personally know Marshals who have been at the same duty stations for nearly a decade.

I hear ya, dude, but the FNG's travel alot before they're allowed to plant roots. At least that's the way it was back in '90.

Actually, the USMS is splitting up into two seperate jobs. The traditional 1811 and the new 082. I took the test for the 082 position a few weeks ago in Dallas. The new position is strictly prisoner transport, courtroom security and asset seizures. The position was created to free up the 1811's to actually go out and be investigators. There is no AUO pay, no LEA pay and not much regular OT pay. It starts out at the GS-5/7 level and tops out at GS-11. This equates to a pay cut for me but if it happens to land in the right geographic area I might decide to actually give it a try. It would be nice to get back to the United States. Living in occupied Mexico gets old after while.

Sharky, no offense but weren't you informed that you would be stationed near the border when you joined the BP. You seem to complain a lot about the border like if it was Mexico or there were no americans here.

If I had Sharky's job, I'd bitch too. Living in El Paso is completely different from working BP there. How many damn REAL Americans do you think he deals with in his thankless job? HHHEEELLLOOOO. What do YOU do?

Hmmm...let me see if I understand this?
You get no support from your own government,no support from the neighboring government,no help from the locals, the media (if they cover you at all) make you look like the S.S., certain "citizen's "groups want your head on a platter and if you demonstrate a little frustration you are accused of "whining".
Oh yeah! Where do I sign up? On second thought, maybe not. Not until the USBP gets their own A-10s...

Sharky,
You couldn't pay me enough to take your job. Every day you come home without having gone completely ape shit and killed everyone within 500 meters of you is a tribute to human patience.

Well, I assure you, I was told that I may be shot at if I join the Army, but I STILL BITCH ABOUT IT WHEN IT HAPPENS!!!!!

Hey guys I did not mean to offend anyone but when people talk about us down here in El Paso as being less americans or having no love or respect for our contry it gets me a bit ticked off. I know where you guys are coming from, sure there are a lot of idiots here that could care if this country went down the drain, or have no respect for our way of life, our values, people that are here to rip off the government that could care less about even learning to speak English. But aren't people like that anywhere in the US, from Chinatown to Little Havana? Not because we look mexican does it mean that we dont love this country. I was born here in the US and have lived in Mexico as well but I do love this country as a lot of people I know here in El Paso.
As far as the BP work not being appreciated, sure there is some of that, but come on it is very rare for the general public to really appreciate what they and other law enforcement agents do, you cops should know that, people do not appreciate that you guys make the streets safer. I was here before Hold the Line was implemented and I know how it was and how it is now thanks to the BP and the police dept.
Guys please do not assume that because we live so close to Mexico or there is a strong influence here from that country that we feel or are less american.
There is a person where I work that I am always arguing about and guess what the discussion is that I have too much faith in this country. He is from Ohio, one of those guys stuck in the 60's that think it was cool to call GI's baby killers yet when his number was called he went to Canada and the is from Ohio, not from El Paso or Nogales,Arizona or some other little border town. I dont think you are so naive to think that because we are here in the border we do not care about this country. Again, I did not intend to offend anyone and if I did I apologize.

Ok Victor, first let me say that this is not personal towards you but more of an overview of life in El Paso.
1. I have been on most of the continents of this earth. I have never seen a nastier town for it's size anywhere outside of a third world country. Take a ride out Montana Vista way sometime. Just get on Montana and go East. You can't miss it.
2. The streets here look like some engineer was playing "pick-up-sticks" when he designed the streets. Try getting around downtown at night. Unbelievable.
3. I'm not particularly thrilled when I see the line of cars at the Elementary Schools with Frontera Chihuahua license plates dropping their kids off at school. My tax money is supposed to be educating our kids, not Mexico's.
4. I'm also not amused when I see Mexican vacuum trucks backing up to the Rio Grande River and dumping thousands of gallons of raw sewage into the river, only to see people fishing 1/2 a mile downstream and the kids playing in the water.
5. I don't really care for the brown cloud that hangs over the city on most days from the pollution.
6. I don't appreciate the fact that people here fly Mexican flags from their homes but the only American flags to be seen are normally on Public buildings such as the Federal Courthouse. If Mexico is so great, there it is, get your ass back over there. You can't even order food at many restaurants unless you speak Spanish.
7. City Government here is the laughingstock of the nation. The Police Department is a joke. Drug smuggler for an assistant chief who got off like OJ. City council is like a romper-room. The School Boards have fist-fights and had to have a person from Austin come in to take over.
The list goes on and on but you get the picture. I'd write more but I'm out of time.

Sharky, I hear you bro....I do not dispute this city is a dump and the local government well you said it, they dont have much in the way of integrity. What I was talking was about some of the people that do consider ourselves american not to be stereotyped with the trash that can care less about the US...well I guess we'll lay this one to rest....out!

Not yet Pat. El Asshole is a toilet. Tijuana has better landscape with the Pacific out front. As far as living and working there...hazardous duty pay and then some. Korea is even a better place and El Paso is in the good ole US of A. Maybe its the Texas thing I don't know. Then again who cares. Shark I'll buy you a beer out here, but you will never see me in El Holio.

Victor- I know there are some people here who love this country. What you should understand is that I view anyone who doesn't love this country as the enemy, and here in El Paso, the enemy is abundant. Too many people here want to have the advantages of living in the US while trying to pretend that they are Mexican and living in Mexico. It's an amazing thing to watch really. There are those on the other side who just want to get up here and get a job so they can feed their family. Culture and heritage be damned as far as those folks are concerned. Then you have those on this side of the river who have plenty, yet, feel the need to try so hard to still be accepted (as superiors, not as equals) by those on the other side. It's always funny to see people on this side looking down their nose at those who are visiting from Mexico. Then those same people travel into Mexico and wonder why the Mexicans laugh when they try so hard to fit in as being fellow Mexicans. People here have the general attitude that they are superior in some way because they live on a different side of the river. The whole cultural battle here is laughable to me. The funniest thing I've heard in a long time was in the mall when a typical "high-class" hispanic female El Pasoan was giving a Mexican lady "the look", as if the lady had just waded the river or something. The lady finally got sick of it and asked the "high-class" lady, in perfect English, what it felt like to be a coconut, brown on the outside, yet white on the inside. I was laughing so hard at the look on the other ladies face that I had to just turn and walk away. So, when I finally leave this place Victor, I invite you to join me and we'll go back to the United States together. It's a great place and I'm sure you'll love it. http://www.specialoperations.com/ubboard/wink.gif

Sharky,
You cracked me up on what you said about that 'hi-class lady' Yeah I know I've seeen it a couple of times...and I know what you mean that pisses you off, it pisses me off too and unfortunately, whether I like it or not,it gives us a bad image, we get stereotyped as someone who could care less about being american. What can I say, I have lived here all my life but I also know what we got here, there are too many shitheads running around if you know what I mean. BTW how is this 100+ degrees weather treating you? Sure feels like having a beer!!!

Sharky's not bullshittin' ya there, bro! I live in Houston, and we're pushing 100 degrees and 90+% humidity damn near every day. Sad thing is that it will stay like that until mid-Sept! I was watching the news last night before I went to sleep . . . 92 f*cking degrees at 10:00 PM!

I doubt it bro. Austin is not exactly a hop, skip and jump for me. It's roughly 600 miles one way. I won't rule it out but like I said, it's doubtful.

Victor, Not to rain on the parade but, basically, anything under a 98% and you can probably forget it. I know several guys who took the test and scored a 100%. There were several from this group who claimed 5 points Veterans Preference so their total score will be a 105. A lot of it also has to do with the geographical areas that you chose on your application. If you chose places that don't have any openings coming up, it won't matter what your score is because they won't be hiring anyone there. Keep trying though. You never know when you might get lucky.
Rogue, Tack only lets me use the Gulfstream when he's not on tour as a spokesperson for Fortune 500.

Hey Shary I took the New Deputy U.S. Marshal exam too. It'll be a cut in in pay but, maybe save my sanity. I have to give you guys who work the "Border" two thumbs Up. I couldn't handle it.
Victor, like sharky said 98 or better for 1811 or Deportation officer jobs. New york INS has over 200 1811's and the last round of hiring they took only people with 100's or better. Just to get the Immgration Agent (GS-09) you need a 90 or better. INS can't hire enough Immigration Inspectors though.

http://www.usdoj.gov/marshals/missions.html mentioned the 94 Marshals are still appointed by the President. What are the percent of deputy marshals who became Marshals?
