This is purportedly a sign seen at a recent Chine/Tibet/Olympic protest. Could be real, could be photo shopped.

Since the Buddhists believe in reincarnation, perhaps they have the second coming of Jesse Owens on the Tibetan Track team.

or the Soviet Union. Back in the old days, letting totalitarian regimes like these host the Olympics would have been unthinkable!

Of course if we don't let them then we are being bullies and imperialists.

The obvious stupidity of the protester in question aside, I can't remember a Summer Games where some martyr of the 1980 team isn't mentioned, and the US doesn't get criticized for the boycott.

Yeah, and then the Soviets boycotted us right back in 1984.
People acted like it was the end of the Olympics just because the two biggest teams were not competing, and once again like you said there were "martyrs" who never got to prove themselves against the best competition.
Kind of a kick in the nuts to the rest of the world when you are dismissed as being unworthy competitors just because your government doesn't consider you part of their "marketing" and pay for you with their defense budget. :D

I encountered a guy the other day wearing a Communist Party pin on his backpack. The irony is his shirt said, "I love Taiwan," and "Fighting for Independence" on the back. Some people aren't even sure what they're protesting.

Maybe he's just playing it safe, waiting to see who comes out on top. :D

Who is the "we" on the sign?
The International Olympic Comitee chooses the venues. Not individual countries.

I for one, will not be silent until they tear down the Berlin Wall!
...I'm sorry, did I miss something? :D
