From the July 11th Seattle Post Intelligencer.
Confusion Has Cops Shooting At Each Other.
Seattle police engaged in a shootout early Tuesday, against their own people, in a case of mistaken identity. Two officers, chasing a stolen police vehicle, lost their target. They then spotted another police unit driven by a lone officer. Thinking it was the stolen police car, they rammed it. The single officer believed he was under assault from the car thief and opened fire on his comrades. They returned fire. Both cars were riddled with bullet holes. No one was injured. A while later, the stolen car showed up at the North Precinct where the driver, 18-year-old Zachary Davis was arrested. Davis' father, a Seattle police officer, was killed in 1995 when his vehicle was hit by by a car driven by a suspect being pursued by the Washington State Patrol.
***20 rounds were fired without a single hit,
which is both good news and bad news!

Here in Seattle, we're too busy collecting Beanie Babies and drinking lattes from Starbucks to be concerned about hitting the target, let alone IDENTIFYING it!
I'm now awaiting the inevitable phone call from Sgt. Dixon..........."Do you have time to do some range work with a few of our folks this weekend?"

Sorry, Sparky. I keep sending it to your email at guardroom.com...........I don't know why it's not reaching you. Sent it 3 times now.
I still instruct in the basics (I work with civilians and new cops) and I've been asked several times to come out to the Metro and County ranges to work with FNG's. Haven't done it for nearly 6 months with any department nearby, but I still meet up with a myriad of cop buddies every week at a local indoor range to punch paper and try new weapons. There's also a local retired cop who runs a Hogan's Alley-type walk-through and I go there every weekend to practice rapid target acquisition.
What's your background, Sparky? Are you still in LE???

This e-mail thing is bugging me. I'm getting all my other e-mails...or at least I THINK I am, how would I really know?
Anyway, currently I'm a State Investigator. I've got a slot for Firearms Instructor School coming up later this year (when it's nice and cold, darnit!)
I've done LE training and am State Certified, but this will be my first forray into Firearms Instruction.
I'm looking forward to it. I think it'll be alot more fun than just classroom stuff!

Talk about funny:
About 1989, there was an incident in South-Central LA that involved a drive-by shooting and subsequent chase. It ended in a parking lot with the OGs on one side of the police car and the officers on the other; firing at each other over the engine hood.
Both parties emptied their magazines, and not one person was injured.

Is there any chance that the involved officers get trained by "the" A team? http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/mica/TVbalders.gif
