Hello Ladies and Gents,

I am considering a move back into LE but on the federal level this time and this position that I am looking at requires me to successfully pass a security clearance background. Now, when I was in LE; it was a county government position, Deputy Sheriff for 8+ years. I've had no experience with the federal side or the military and security clearances.
What I would like to know is what are the requirements or what is the background like for a security clearance? This info is strictly OPSEC I understand, so could someone please e-mail me and we could talk. I only want serious inquiries, this is very important considering the events of the past month and the current future that we all will be experiencing.
For those that do not know, I left LE in 1999 because I lost my little two year old boy in an accident. My sense of duty is finally getting back to me.

Thank You,
etg

ETG....I didn't answer because I figured it was being handled via e-mail. If you didn't get an answer shoot me an e-mail and I'll try to help you out.

Sorry to hear about your son, may he rest in peace.

I have two little boys myself. I don't think I would be able to get through something like that...

Sharky,
Thanks for the reply. I have received one e-mail and it helped out alot. I will e-mail you and see what you have to say. Any and all information in appreciated. I want to make an informed decision.

And jag, it was very difficult. He died in my arms. I'd been in LE for 8+ years up till then and have seen death more times than I can count, but after that; I just couldn't hold it together any more. I thought I had things under control until a month ago and I lost it. It has been a while since the accident and like I said, I thought I had things under control. Then the second anniversary came around and I had an emotional break down. It was terrible, but it helped. I feel like I have taken another step forward since the accident. I haven't even had the desire to be back in LE but since then my since of duty has come back and I want to move on. Me and my wife have had a little girl since that time too and it is shocking to see the resemblance between her and my little boy. She is my little Joy, her middle name, her first of Tiffany fits her though. Thanks for the kind words and the best to you and your family.
