Does anyone have experience with Star pistols? Are they accurate and reliable enough for off-duty/back-up carry? One of the officers on my shift is getting one from a family member. While the sticker price is right, we all know the hidden charges associated with unreliable weapons.
Thanks, be safe, and have a good Thanksgiving.

jnc36rcpd, Yes! I had at one time, a very sweet little Star pistol.
It was the Star PD model, .45 ACP, alloy frame. Six in the mag, one in the pipe. It was the size of a Colt Officers model. Very accurate for a little gun. If I could find another ,I would buy it.

Had a Star BM a few years back. No complaints!

I've owned two stars, one in 9mm and one in .45. Both outstanding weapons. Can't say much about the finish or the machining on the inside, but they performed flawlessly through thousands of rounds.
