Excerpt from Fox News
English actor Rupert Everett reportedly accused British soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan of being "whining wimps."
According to the U.K.'s Daily Mail, the 49-year-old gay actor whose father is a retired major in the British Army said the troops today "are always whining about the dangers of being killed. Oh my God, they are such wimps now!" he said.
He was comparing them to those in the 19th century, in particular to that of soldier and adventurer Sir Richard Burton. Everett just completed a documentary about him for Britain's Channel 4, called The Victorian Sex Explorer.
In Burton's day they were itching to get into the fray," Everett was quoted in the Mail.
Everett, whose films include "My Best Friend's Wedding" alongside Julia Roberts and "The Next Best Thing," has a history of making controversial remarks. Last week he described Americans as "whiny victims" whose entire language is taken from "Friends" and "Sex and the City," the Mail reported.
That horrible facelift he got must have caused brain damage.
What an asshole.

What makes this fuitcake an expert?
Aside from the "six inch human torpedos," that this admitted butt bandit has taken up his fourth point of contact, what does he really know about combat?

Suggested rupert research whimp and whining, write it down on paper, tape paper to a mirror, stand looking at the mirror and read what a whimp and whiner are defined as. Might make more sense then.

Hey, Rupert; remove your butt plug and insert your apology, where you stow all of your other foreign objects. Then replace the plug, so that you don't mess up the enviornment, as you waddle bowlegged down the street, with that mammoth tunnel entrance you call your asshole.

If I'm a...let's say, Coal Miner...and I'm down in the bowels of the earth plying my skilled efforts...and the son of a coal miner, who has never a day in his life taken the tools of my trade and produced one bead of sweat on his brow by his effort to fulfill one day of my expected duties...,...what's that, say again?
He, he...pardon me, but who gives fuckall about what you think, you bell-end farley bum-lick bastard?
Now, fuck off then, before we start taking wagers on how many times you can be stomped in the head before your skull comes apart at the seams.

Whoever does the stomping should be sure to wear a biohazard suit.
Well, he does seem to have lost weight. You never know...
Addit: Everett is just another assclown with delusions of relevance.

Not the ones I know. In fact I'm sure they'd like to have a word with Mr. Everett...

LOL!
I'm not even sure of what to make of this really.
I'm guessing he's pro-war and justifies war atrocities to the point that not doing so makes you "whimpy".
In some ways, I'd rather hear this than the usuall Hollywood "let's all hold hands and Peace and shit".
Perhaps his harsh words aren't such a bad thing in the bigger sceme of things.

Well now wait a minute, let's put all of this into perspective.
The rest of our and their society is seemingly very sheepish when it comes to warfare, not the war fighters mind you, but the spectaters at home who overwatch what soldiers do every day, and critisise every mean word uttered at our poor, down trodden enemy.
Policy is sometimes made on the opinions of the voting masses, what they see on t.v., or what they read by media outlets and how it's presented helps form our opinions.
The "let's all be nice to each other" crowd has had it's way in popular culture for a long time. What Mr. Rupert is suggesting is we go back to the warrior ways and time of people like Sir Richard Burton. When warriors fought wars outside of the eyes of a public with little to no comprehension of what fighting war is all about.
Granted, it's not a direct line of indication, but it made far more of an impact than castising the faceless popular culture for being weak willed.
Does anyone else see my point?

Match,
I feel you on this. But, if the Queen Mary felt so strongly then why didn't he serve in the forces instead of being a sausage waiter? I don't think there is ever going to be a return back to the days of "rough men" for numerous reasons. In this case maybe it was a case of the way the message was delivered as well as the delivery girl (oops, boy).

Meh, some folk aren't cut out for service, I see him more as a cheer leader, (not that way you savage).
I hardly see his comments being any different than that of the other celebreties who feel exactly opposite who also have never, nor would ever serve anything more than their own egos and pocket books.
Certainly his comments are insulting and reek of celebrety elietism, I'm just trying to put a context on what he is saying.
Had he said, "British society is weak and whimpy, we should be encouraging our boys to kick ass etc..etc.." would it of had any impact other than him being a "Blair/Bush croonie"?

Self assessment is once again impressed upon me by the Isl of Misfit Toys resident flipper footed oracle of wisdom.
It was easy for me to dismiss the quotes from a bell-end boy regarding "weak and whimpy" labeling of his fellow Limey's who've proved their metal in the AO.
Context. Any statement must be taken in context. Regardless of the ease or tendency to dismiss statements made by individuals who live a lifestyle contradictory to my personal ideals.
Facts are facts. Self-efficacy, SA, leadership skills... all have "realistic assessment of available facts" as a common capability.
"Yo ho, Bitch...you're killing the message because of the messenger."
Copy.
The guy is a fudge packer (in the Brit vernacular), let him drivel on, I don't reckon too many Brits will get upset about this, they'll just sneer and realise what a pathetic individual he really is.
I don't think too many producers will be beating his doors down now. Well, they weren't before anyway!

Wow.
There's a whole lot of sexual insecurity going on in this thread.
I dismiss his opinion because he's a wealthy celebrity who never served in the military and therefore has no firsthand experience from which to form an informed opinion of the behavior of the stress of soldiers.
Whether he sleeps with men or women has no relevance on whether his opinion matters.
Unless, of course, you have questions about your own sexuality and need to lash out to mask it. :D
