Hi, I'm a member of a Canadian Army Reserve Para Coy., and we were taught a patrolling tactic, that works when doing advance to contact. Instead of maintaining a spacing of one tactical bound between pairs, you stay right close to your partner, so that at battle range[approx 300m] you and your partner are indistinguishable, this also helps to provide mutual/moral support. We were told this was an Australian tactic, and I was hoping whether someone could confirm this, and possibly provide further resources in this field.
Cheers, Ryan

Reserve Para company..... jeez how I wish we had one of those.
No we keep spacing at irregular intervals.Until we all got night vision we kept close at night that was about all.
You keep close and 1 mine or shell can do more damage as you know.Thats what I've been taught.
Then again some Aussie training SNCO could have passed that on but its not gospel.I've never heard of it.
Never heard of it. All it would do is kill two people in a single burst.
