Before we get excited lets not forget that the only real unit in that part of Australia is the SASR.And the navy is 2 days away.
There are no real bad guys only hungry people.
I'm sure if the navy was there this would be their show.
Its a disgrace we have no Units on Christmas island permantly anyway.

Did you see the rubbish they tried on in Indonesia? They certainly weren't given the kid glove treatment there. And the Indons wont stand for them throwing babies into the water either....
They should be going to the source of the problem and get the mongrels that organise the smuggling and the floating deathtraps that they use. These buggers are charging 5-10 grand US per head and they are making a fortune out of it. Remove them and problem solved.

Well i must agree it is a shame that we have no permanent forces on Christmas Island.. And if anyone thinks that the way they were treated was wrong. Talk to me... I was there.. They went on a hunger strike for three days because they weren't being given cigarettes and we werent giving them cans of coke or other soft drink. If you think about why they were denied these items which quite a few people take for granted it makes sense. MANOORA was half way through an "Up Top" deployment so we were running already very low on soft drink, that soft drink isn't payed for by the taxpayer. It is payed for by the sailors themselves. Cigarettes were denied to them because to make use of their cigarettes, a lighter or matches would be needed. As we already know, the supposed "asylum seekers" had a liking for setting things a light. As any sailors will tell you, a fire on board a ship is everyone's nightmare.. Why risk tempting them?? Especially when they found out we weren't taking them to Aus.
