I was just wondering if you have ever heard of any americans joining the sas. And if so how would someone go about doing that.
Become an Australian citizen, join the Army and pass selection.

probably only SF, etc, on secondment. why would you want to join sasr when sf, rangers etc get more 'play time' anyway? not a flame, just a comment.

Well the Defence Force is now relaxing its attitude to soldiers from other countries.
I think they are only looking at Sgts and above.
All this came out a few weeks ago.To get to SASR you still must pass the Cadre course.
I think though if you have experience in aviation you are a sure in to the Defence force.
Although why a yank with all your SF units would want to come here is confusing.Unless a woman is involved he he he.

Actually the reason I would want to join the SAS is because their Cadre seems tougher than the ones run by Amercian SF teams. Also when you say "play time", are you talking about deployments?

tell ya what, sign up with a RIP contract, get to the 75th and tell the RIP cadre you think their shit's weak-if you manage to live through those 3 weeks ( let alone the next 3 hours of smoke ) and actually graduate as well as serve a full tour in Battallion then I'll pay for your flight to Australia
I understand where you're coming from, but lemme ask you this, why should the SASR expect you to be loyal to them or Australia if you left your country without even experiencing what it offered first? I've got a lot of respect for the SASR and the Australian Army in general ( my grandfather was in the Pacific and he considers the Aussies the best soldiers in the war ), but the logic of the whole thing escapes me.
