When you say it won't start, does it get power? Meaning, are you just able to start it but it defaults to an error instead of loading the OS?

What he said along with: is the computer starting and the HDD won't spin up? Or is it spinning, but not doing anything (ie, not recognized by the system)?

Fdisk... On a windows 95 machine? (did you use scan disk utli instead?)

Did you format the partition by mistake?

I finally got rid of all the quantex machines in my environment about 2 years ago. If 10 where purchased on the same PO none of them had the same parts...

I did get them to run XP for a bit though...

Rereading the issue, I sure as hell hope so ;)

I need to add a clause that states no help on computers that are older than dirt :D

Hopefully you meant Scan disk. If you used Fdisk to "clean Out" The partition, that might mean that all the code that makes your machine run is gone which may be why your machine will not boot.

I heard the Smithsonian was looking for copies of WIN 95... Archeological study of some sort.

Doesn't boot would mean no bios screen. Damn Chernobyl.

Shoot it. Buy a new box with Linux or XP. 95 wasn't worth a damn anyway.

Sorry CV, but when you put that invite for comp help out there, I just couldn't resist.

Fdisk is an old DOS command for "fuck up your system pronto"

My Quantex was indeed a beast, but it taught me well... As a matter of fact its 4 gb HD was spectacularly big when I got it back in 96. Thought I was the shit until I discovered that the 200 mmx was the last of the P1 line, and that no upgrade was possible on that chassis.

So.... sorry for screwing with ya like that. You were just presenting such a soft target that, like I said, I couldn't resist.

lol, I have tougher skin than that ;) People were going to put out their computer issues regardless, I prefer to have a standardized format to cut through any BS. If it gets to be rediculous then I will just make a post with all the links to the major manufacturers! haha

At least you didn't bring up some shit like a Commodore 64
