Thanks

Kolt,

Never bought the knife - it has a false dagger-blade which isn't the strongest shape, especially on a pocket knife. It's handle is too straigth - making it slip easier and not allowing you to put as much weight behind the blade as you might want. The AFCK for example, has a strong clippoint, an overall curved shape and a very sturdy lock. Pretty much the opposite of the gerber. It's a sexy looking blade, but generally stuff that looks sexy performs horrible http://www.specialoperations.com/ubboard/smile.gif

It all depends on what you want to use it for:-) The Gerber Covert came from the full size Gerber A-F, which came from the fixed blade A-F as made by Boker, Black Jack, Harsey, and Al Mar. Applegate-Fairburn(Sp?) wanted to improve on the F-S (Fairburn-Sykes) of WWII. No need to guess on how it was to be used. It's a well built blade, and if it's got the same Walker designed lock as my full size, I feel it's more secure in the open position than the traditional Liner-Locks such as the Benchmades. All my folders open Copenhagen and cut 550 about the same anyway-so if you like it, and the price is right-go for it. Trust me, knives are like Lays chips...you can't by just one:-)

Microtech's look pretty sweet, but they are hard as hell to get here. Only one i've ever seen was a beadblasted standard socom folder in the Böker catalog... went for about $450.

I believe the "Masters of Defense" series is made by the same company and goes for alot less...
