Saw AC DC last night here in Atlanta. After 25 years they still rock out. They never stopped from start to finish they ruled. If they come your way I recommend you get tickets. My ears are still ringing! Here a clip of Hells Bells I posted on YouTube.

I met a General's daughter at an AC/DC concert in Germany in 1978. I was running black market smokes and whiskey for the promoter and working some sound when they needed it. I wrote this about that night, just another love tragedy in my life.
================================================== =====
I first saw her about 10 rows back at an AC/DC concert in Mannheim Germany I was working in the late 70s. I went weak in the knees. She was a long legged pony with green eyes and dirty blond hair. After the first band, Wishbone Ash finished, she had worked her way up to the front row on my side of the stage. While she danced to the 2nd band, Judas Priest, I was having trouble breathing. During the break before AC/DC she smiled and I just had to go say hello.
I was guessing she was German but she ended up being Canuck. A Canadian Air Force General's daughter. What luck. I was taking a lot of heat from my squadron commander and 1st shirt and the possibility of getting a General in my pocket could lift some of the grief I hoped. On the other hand it was like playing with an unpinned grenade. Generals can squash a 2 striper like a bug with one swipe of the pen.
I did some fast talking with the AC/DC's stage manager and the promoter I worked for and got her up on stage to dance near the P.A. cabinets. I ended up with a kiss and phone number. I was getting to see her again.
We dated a couple times, ice skating on the local pond with a big bonfire after and some Jager was one date. I was slap crazy about her. Around the 4rth week I called her to set up for her mom and dad to come watch our hockey team play in Saarbrucken. I knew her ole man had to love hockey since they were Canuck and she agreed. Time to schmooze dad and mom.
Our hockey team was a Canuck/USA All Star team made up of military players that traveled all over Europe. We never had any trouble with Saarbrucken before, we usually smacked them around every game but they took it pretty good. Just a walk in the park usually.
Everything is going fine in the game, we're up like 7-3 and the game started getting chippy in the 2nd period. The herms start to throw elbows and our big boyz (army treadheads) start to run them pretty good in the corners. The last thing I need is a brawl while trying to impress pop. My future wife was at the game so I have a chat with the fellas in the locker room before the 3rd period starts. "Please, for the love of god, no fights tonight," I beg. I even offer to buy the beer and whiskey if they take the pounding tonight. They all smile their gap toothed smiles and nod okay, sure. ;)
3rd period gets going and the next thing I know I'm in the sin bin with a herm on the other team for matching roughing calls. I realize it's about to be "On" so I lean out of the penalty box to try and negotiate with the herm.
"Hey, schnitzel breath!" I start out with. The guy can't speak a lick of English so I go to the little German I know to tell him I really, REALLY need to sit this brawl out. He gives me the serial killer stare down and mumbles something about crazy Americanish in German. Freakin great. Hans wants to dance tonight. WTF? Euros never want to fight.
I try again with a more animated version and point to my new found love of my life in the stands and he just waves me off. He starts making gestures with his stick toward me like Ogie Oglethorpe in the movie Slapshot. No turning back now.
Suddenly the guys on the ice drop the gloves and start rubbin knots on each other face. Wolfgang jumps out of the penalty box to join the melee, I follow and tackle him from behind, again trying to plead my case to take a rain check. He's punching me and I finally have to haul off and clobber him. As we're rolling around on the ice I peek up in the stands to see the General standing, his coat already over his arm, leading mom and daughter out from their seats.
It's over.
I wait a few days for pop to cool off and call her the but I can't get through the aide-de-camp. I'm persona non grata now at the General's residence. I think about sneaking over but their house is guarded pretty good after the Red Brigade whacked General Dozier.
I ran into her months later in K-town. They were PSCing back to Canada. I got a big wet sloppy kiss goodbye and that was it. Never heard from her again.

Their new album rocks. Best since Back in Black IMO.
I wanted to see them here in L.A. last week but had to work.
Last saw them in Germany in '82.

Concur. Black Ice is their best since Back In Black. They were THE band of choice for me in my younger years and I can remember listening to them for hours on end in their Bon Scott days.
For you Sirius subscribers, they now have an all AC/DC channel called Boneyard, channel 19. Been rockin' to a lot of that lately.

I'd like to hear them, and Airborne perform together... Dude has an awesome voice, and would do justice to any AC/DC song.

I love AC/DC but they have basically recorded the same album for 10+ years. They are masters of the A chord and are the easiest band to play with the guitar. But in the end...they are just down right FUN to see live!
Any Dream Theater fans out there?

Damn, looks like a good time. Yeah, they were up here in Toronto, Canada back a few months ago. I don't think the tickets lasted five minutes before they were all snatched-up by rabid fans.
