Did not see a SOCNET clothing thread, so....

I was google-fu-ing and found the pants Bear Grylls wears. The appear to be tough, and functional, and the opinions of many of the owners of these pants seems to be 'fits good, 'good range of motion', 'durable' etc, etc.... But does anyone have 1st hand experience with them. 30 British pounds for them is fair, if they are as durable and wearable as advertised...

Opinions??

I have a couple of pairs, they're lightweight and comfortable, and very hard wearing as well, Plenty of pockets as well, great for travelling in, and quick drying in the heat.....you'll like them :D

I had some.
Mine wore out pretty quickly though. Guess I don't play nice.
I have had more success with Fjällräven G1000's. (Swedish brand - don't now if they are available in US - but I will be more than happy to help).
Find them here (http://www.fjallraven.com/Templates/se_productlist.asp?SectionId=3784&Menu=menu1).

FDK,

Their website said 'lifetime warranty'.. do they have that?

The91B: I am not a reseller, just a happy customer, but usually when Danish, Swedish or other Nordic producers offer "Lifetime Warranties" they actually mean it. So unless some clauses are stated, ie "zippers and buttons only" it's pretty much gtg. Of course you could e-mail them and make absolutely sure what is covered in said warranty.
Where did you find the "lifetime warranty" statement? Link?

I had a pair of Fjällräven pants, where a seem opened, and the store replaced them, no questions asked. And they were USED! If this was due to good service in the store or company policy from Fjällräven, I don't know. I just smiled and left the store!

Just my .02 on the "lifetime guarantee". If you call and ask the customer service reps they will explain that it is for the "life" of the garment. This does not mean as long as you keep it, but how long the industry standard is for said article. At least this was explained to me from two seperate gore-tex companies. This is still a long time. If I remember correctly, 10 years on a jacket.

Stay safe

I kinda liked these but when I went to buy them from the site they weren't in stock. Anyone know of an alternate place to buy? None on ebay.

91B: Aah, I misunderstood you. (I am Danish so I am bound to misunderstand a lot! :o))
I don't know of any statement from Fjällräven about lifetime warranty. I can't find it on their site anyways. But that doesn't mean that they don't have some kind of policy. I just don't know about it - and have never had any problems.

FDK,

Thanks for the info.

I like my 5.11 pants, but would like something with more flexibility, and the crags look like they flex better. I did not know about the Fjällräven pants you were talking about, but I guess what I needed was more info, on a larger variety of tac pants, and that's what this thread is generating.

Also, when members here endorse a certain item, that means alot to me, because some of the people here have worn their gear in situations I will never (Lord willing) find myself in.

Looks like I need to keep researching

Try Ranger Joes or some site like that. They have a variety of colors in BDU/ripstop stlye pants. Great for camping/hiking/fishing
