I was asked to pass this along for your info and I am honored to do so. Blue Skies Charlie Mitts.
-----------------------
It is with great sadness that I report the loss of FAM Charlie Mitts of the Houston Field Office, who passed away during the evening of January 14th.
FAM Mitts began his career with the Federal Air Marshal Service in December 2001. He served as a Houston Field Office Firearms Instructor until he was selected in April 2003 as a FAMS' JTTF representative at the Houston FBI Office. FAM Mitts was awarded a certificate of exceptional service for his achievements during this assignment. In April 2006, FAM Mitts deployed to Iraq, where he served until his return to the FAMS in September 2007. At the time of his death, FAM Mitts was on extended military leave serving with the Army National Guard Unit in Austin, Texas.
Prior to joining the FAMS, FAM Mitts led an exemplary 13-year career with local law enforcement in Texas. Along with supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom, FAM Mitts also served during Operation Desert Storm in 1991.
FAM Mitts received a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Award for Valor in 1998 after completing a dangerous rescue in which he risked his life to save three others.
Additionally, FAM Mitts is credited with designing the Heraldry of the Federal Air Marshal Service Seal.
FAM Mitts is survived by his wife Kristi, and children Caitlyn, Andrew, and Catherine.
