On "Mel's Sniper Page" carried under the Sniping and Sharpshooting section of this site the webmaster lists the names of some of the more prolific snipers of this century some of whom were Navy men during Vietnam. I was wondering if these men were SEALs or if there were other sailors that were trained as snipers at one time?

Daniel L. Greene

Joe York

Craig McGary

Gary J. Brown

Dave Leibensperger

Thanks for any responses.

No to all. There is a Daniel Greene who graduated in 1992, but he probably wasn't born when these Orkin men were plying their trade......

Thanks for the info. Makes me wonder what units these guys were attached to and how they were designated as snipers. Seems to me that the only other Navy personnel with any ground combat training at all were seabees and SBU guys(?) and that was primarily defensive in nature.
