Does anyone think they should rebuild the OSS?

With US Special Operations COMmand (SOCOM) there is no need for the OSS really. Although thats just my opinion.

I think they should. It seems the CIA has dropped the ball a little from what I have read. It seems that the operations side of the house doesn't do operations on a big scale anymore. The need for the military to fill this void would be grat as in the OSS.

For all intents and purposes the OSS still exists, the CIA took over the Intelligence Group aspect and the Special Forces took over the Operations Group aspect. Even though it doesn't appear on the official US Army lineage, the OSS is one of the units on which Special Forces was based on. Essentially all the OSS's capabilities still exist just in different areas; the last thing we need is one more government super spook agency.
Just my 2 cents

This would never happen, but it seems in history books the OSS was more of an Honorable agency then CIA has been. It would interesting, but impossible if the basically worked out a way to shut down the CIA and reopen the OSS. Of Course with our trustworthy *Laughing* Government the OSS or some type of non-military unit might still be around but just not recorded .

To Mac679, yes the powers to be at the Center for Military History used the First Special Service Force (FSSF) lineage. Before 1986, it was the Rangers lineage mixed up. And before that, well,....... Aaron Banks stated the SF was based on the operational detachments of the OSS.
