View Full Version : AKO Question - Need Help!

I recently tried logging into AKO after a long time (i've been out since Jan 08) and found that I can't access my account. It still exists, however it's unsponsored. The reason I tried accessing my account was actually to get into IPERMS so I can download a copy of my mil records again (had a hard drive failure and was an idiot and didn't back up to cd).

I contacted the AKO helpdesk, and they finally said that I need someone to sponsor my account. Apparently anyone with an active AKO account can do this. So here are my questions:

1. Has anyone done this before and knows the process?
2. Would someone be so kind as to sponsor me?

I have a least one member of the board who i've met in person and others who I have talked to on the phone many years ago when I was helping out a friend with some PTSD issues. I can give all information that you need.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I am having my own problems. Every time I try to connect it will not allow me. However, it knows me and will let me change my password. So, any time I want to look at AKO I have to change my password and then go in under the new password. How weird is that?

Just wanted to bump this up to the top incase anyone missed it.

Bert, that is definitely weird. The helpdesk is very quick at responding (usually in under a day) i'm just in a position where I need a sponsor.

I believe copies of the records are on an old computer in storage at my parents house. I just contacted my sister so hopefully I can regain them that way. I would still like to get back on AKO though as there was a lot of interesting reading and it's great to get back in touch with old friends.

Again any help is appreciated!

Bert--
I am also having the same problem...AKO was fine when I logged in two weeks ago...but it appears that it has expired since...you may need to find a new sponsor too...

SMC--
Your sponsor has to have a current CAC (and the ability to log-in with a CAC enabled machine) to finalize the approval.

Do they care that most, if not all, retirees don't have CAC cards?

I'm also getting someone to try the retiree route, but the AKO help desk last night told me that someone with a CAC needs to verify with their CAC...so it may be that retirees can't 'sponsor' people... I don't know...

Maybe i'll just go the local recruiting station. I have my ID still (expired) so they can verify it's me. I still have friends in the guard too around here but probably don't have CAC card reader. I appreciate the info!
