View Full Version : DEU regs
Does anyone know the regs for wearing foreign qualifications on your DEU's. I've been told that it requires "Cdn equivlilant" ie: no foreign jump wings unless you have cdn. For instance our plt cmr is ex US with airborne and air assault, yet he cannot wear the US jump wings until he gets cdn ones. No equivlilant for the Air Assault so SOL on that one I suppose. I'm getting foreign wings too, so what do you have to do for "equivilant"? Every person tells me something different, the whole jump course, one jump, 5 jumps, etc. I've got a shooting badge from the USMC, and I'm qual'd as marksman. Shouldn't that meet "equivilant"? I've asked our OR for info, and ther're looking into it. Anybody know the regs on this one? I've read that some guys on this forum have foreign quals. How did you go about getting permission to wear?
This isn't an answer to your question. Can you post information on these courses without using abbriviations because I have no idea what they are. I'm very interested in this whole paying for courses thing because things are so messed up for reservists from my point of view anyway. I'm interested in these courses to improve my skills, not for glory (bragging rights are just a benefit). Please take some time to help out this confused Private.
For foreign jump courses contact Rob Krott at para6@hotmail.com , he's out of the country right now, so give it until say mid-June. For sniper courses on Eastern side I'd try Storm Mountain (check this article out http://www.prostar.com/web/sniper/smtc-xri.htm). I've never been there, so can't vouch for them. They have helicopter assault, CQB, Sniper, etc. Also HK have a training site in Virginia I think. For Western side Surgical Shooting (www.surgicalshooting.com) USMC type sniper training for military and law enforcement only. I've been to the Surgical shooting course and it's top notch, taught by real USMC Scout/Snipers. If you go, try to get on the next one at Camp Pendleton, CA. Give the Force Recon tryout a go, they hold them there every last thurs. You won't get in, but it would be a hell of a challenge to see how far you can get through the tests. I'll feed more info as I get it/do it. Remember, this kind of "adventure training" is very expensive, US dollars too.
I found the Storm Mountain site www.stormmountain.com (http://www.stormmountain.com) (go figger!). Check this out,

Don't know what to say since neither of those links worked. You got me interested.
Don't problems arise when it comes to getting the firearms that are needed to take the course.
