HAHAHA! Leno did a bit tonite about Arlington, Tx being the most unhealthy city in the nation. And the city is damn near wall to wall restaurants. There was only one health food store in the city and it was closed! Too funny, but sadly too true. Being out here in Lewisville now is a whole brand new world.

Blame Jerry Jones. There's a big-ass stadium there now.

I used to live about 15 min from that monstrosity. I'm glad I've moved. Traffic was horrendous before they built it. If my memory serves me Arlington is also the largest city in the nation with zero mass transportation. The whole area was already congested on a a regular basis. I had already moved before the first game was held.

I lived 5 minutes from the Ballpark before moving to Coppell. We hated Arlington...it's a giant Wal-Mart parking lot. And yeah, traffic sucked – for Dallas (I spend too much time in D.C. to be able to seriously complain about Dallas traffic).

Yeah..but the DC metro is a dream. I never had to work there tho...just plain simple personal time. Always someone to talk to, so I didn't mind the trains.

I can't wait for the new train station opening up here in Lewisville come 2010. This is the best situation for me. Lewisville is still small enough not to be a pain in the ass...I just spent the morning walking around the lake....very nice. And, hopefully in the next few months, I will be moving within walking distance of the lake, live 10 minutes from work (2nd shift) and jump the train to Dallas or Fort Worth in the blink of an eye...perfect. I'm looking at some volunteer organizations to jump start my personal life. My bar hopping days are so long gone they are a distant memory. For me, too boring. The last 'date' I went on the guy wanted to sit and drink all night long in just ONE bar. I spent half the nite thinking 'somebody just shoot me now'. So, Lewisville is great for me to hang my hat right now.

Screw Arlington.

I live in Arlington and LOVE IT!

There is only 'one' health food store? Does Whole Foods count as health food store (there is one on I-30/Collins). Farmers market on Cooper count as health food? How about... Google Search anyone?

Me thinks, they did not look around to hard?!

FYI - with all the new construction, traffic around the stadiums is becoming a LOT better. I-30 towards Dallas was renovated and traffic into Fort Worth is a breeze.

Let's see: I live in a quiet neighborhood with great schools (The state rated our elementary 'Exemplary'). Have a huge public park with a 10+ mile trail system in ONE direction for Cycling, Running, Soccer, you name it (River Legacy Park) am less than 10 minutes from one of the Worlds's biggest International Airports, Baseball Stadium, Football Stadium, Water Park (Wet'n Wild), Six Flags over Texas, a 15 minute commute to either downtown Dallas or Fort Worth with Zoos, Museums, Concert Venues, etc.. A lot of good paying jobs all around the metroplex, tons of Restaurants (several 'dive's been featured on the Food Nework lately) and places to go shop and fun pubs all around.

Yup... I definitely understand why I have to hate living here...

I hated the traffic. I have all that and no traffic.

I'm a second shifter too. Pays more & no traffic to deal with. If I move, I'm thinking Valley Ranch or somewhere along Highway 121 with some land. Hard to beat what I have now, though. Or perhaps I should just be a 6%'er Lake Pirate:biggrin:

Arlington is kinda ugly to me, but it sure is convenient. You can have all that Jerry's World crap.

The River Legacy park is really nice. But, I shit you not, it took me almost 30 minutes to get to it from Euless. That's a damn crying shame. There is indeed a Whole Foods...in fact...the only one in a very wide radius. But, I stopped going there because that is at least 45 minutes from Useless. And, that is before they dropped in 100,000 people on Sunday afternoon. It's too bad that Leno didn't do a bit on Useless. There's not even ONE restaurant, only fast food and NO health food stores.

Where I am at right now, I am quite literally 10 feet from a bus stop that has an express bus to Union Station if I need it. I can drop off my landry for bundle service and grocery shop at 4 different markets within 15 minutes of each other, not the least of which is a Sprouts and a Market Street. Both of which puts the Dallas Farmers market to absolute shame. I can walk from my apartment to Chili's, El Fenix or cross the bridge to at least three more. I haven't checked out the El Fenix, but it used to be pretty decent years ago. It has to be better than the On the Border crap....can't be worse.

And, I have yet to be disturbed by traffic noise. The loudest thing so far is the kids playing outside my back porch.

Even on second shift, the traffic is heavy all around the mid cities area. And, if gasoline jumps up to 5.00 a gallon, I can park the car and ride the bus (10 feet from my front door) to work, to drop off the bundle service and 4 different markets. If and when I move across from Lake Lewisville, the bus has a service that will actually pick me up at my front door on call, do all the same things and shuttle me to the college campus for free.

Can't really beat that!

I don't know Valley Ranch. I've was gone for nearly 20 years, so there's alot of development that has sprung up since I was gone. Sure, I've been home to visit, but never really strayed far from the house.

I worked in Arlington for 18 months...I thought it was a cool town. My daughter starts at UT Arlington in the spring (if she gets her shit together &/or I give her a BIG kick in the pants so she doesn't throw away her free college from her dad's GI Bill)

The only thing I have to say is NEVER go to the Parks Mall during the holidays -- what a frigging nightmare!!!!

Not far from where you are now. It is where the Dallas Cowboys have their practice facilities. On the north edge of the Las Colinas part of Irving.

Parks Mall is a nightmare and has actually been going the way of Six Flags Mall.

Downhill and FAST!

Most people I know go to Town Center in Hurst now.

I have to agree with this..I love that Wholefoods. Arlington traffic does suck. BAD. I hate going out there, but Leno is mostly a POS, so his stupid assessments count for about nil in my book. Maybe, he could spend more time on something more interesting. He probably is resentful that it has such a massive stadium in it.
Arlington is fast becoming a tourist town, so the number of restaurants don't surprise me. Most of them are crappy chains.
