This is a question about JTF selection. From what i have heard JTF selection is 6 days long and if you pass that you go to the special ops assaulter course for a while. What is this assaulter course, and what is it like? Do they incorporate jump school into the assaulter course or do you have to go to jump school?I have also heard that it is unlikely for a person in there early twenties to get into JTF, why is that? Any information would be great thank you.

I've noticed good, accurate first-hand information on JTF-2 is as hard to find as a virgin after the Calgary Stampede. Latest info is that JTF will not do the "recruiting tour" anymore. All recruiting as of May 2000 is "continuous & ongoing". You can apply through your own unit, pass initial screeening, interviews and physicals locally then get on the next phase for selection. If you pass that, then you go on the 5-6 month assaulters / specialists / mobility course, whichever one you're trying for. All this is from the last issue of the Maple Leaf. All I can say for sure is that I do know some guys who've tried selection and failed. All say it was REAL hard, physical fitness is paramount but even more important was stamina (mental and physical), determination, maturity, stress management. One Mcpl who made it through the selection (a real PT god type, 100 pushups without sweating, etc)failed the interview. That must of REALLY sucked.

TonyM,

When you say the JTF2 has stopped recruiting tours, you mean they don't come around to CFB's at scheduled time throughout the year anymore right? So now to get in would you just ask your C.O. and a team from Dwyer Hill would come and check you out?

I assume that they still have certain time in the year that they run the SOA and selection.

One final question. How many people would you guess are accually selected to attend the SOA? One of their recruiting info said that something like 500 people per year are screened for the unit.
