Interesting, this will be the 3rd CG with some sort of SOF background for ARSOUTH.

Anyone here know or work for him now?

The Chief of Staff, Army announced today the following assignment.

Brig. Gen. Simeon G. Trombitas, special assistant to the commanding general, U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C., to commanding general, U.S. Army South, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

I thought it became 6th Army...

ARSOUTH/6th Army was the official designation when I left (Just like 3rd Army became ARCENT/3rd Army).

They kept the banana boat and did not switch to the 6 point star.

I met him a few years ago in the PI, right before he went to ROK.

He was cool to me.
