Yeah well they are moving north to south so don't get all excited. Cali will never fall anywhere.

Just talked to techie here. He says other states are looking at this as well. Manufacturers will have to make TVs bigger the 50" that consume the power of the smaller screen jobs. And I always thought that prices (supply and demand) drove the marketplace.

Deadright. The weirdness is uniformly endemic throughout the I-5 corridor:
"Frisco del Norte" = "Baja Seattle"

In other news, the federal govt announced today that owners of non-energy saving TVs will be in violation of The Patriot Act and charged as energy terrorists (cross-thread points)....

I don't see it as a big deal. They did the something with other household appliances. We will pay a little more money and no one will really notice. Besides, people should destroy their TV's and read more:tongue:

I haven't owned a TV in some double-digit number of years now, and have no plans for buying another. I seriously don't miss it. If I want to spend the occasional stretch of time watching a TV re-run or a motion picture, I'll just get the DVD and pop it into the computer. Works just fine.

I have a nice TV with surround-sound, entertainment system, etc...but haven't had cable/satellite hooked up in over 6 months. I love it. Just watch DVD's whenever I get the urge, read a lot of books, have wireless internet, etc.
This will save me about $1200 over the year just by eliminating my TV bill. Planning to use that money for other things, like guns and ammo. ;)

I haven't owned a TV in some double-digit number of years now, and have no plans for buying another....Yeah, but without a TV, you can't watch things like kids trapped in balloons and being chased by helos. Oh wait, I suppose you could watch it on your computer.
Nevermind....

If they actually do this, it will open a huge fucking door to ban other shit.
My xbox will be banned next. It's a luxury item and takes a toll on the grid considering how much my son and I play it during the hot summer days.

There has been a voluntary government program out for years, that almost every TV I've owned has complied with...

What, not good enough Kali? Anything to try to claw your way out of bankruptcy. I love the one yahoo saying the costs should remain static....hahaha: LED Backlit, Local Dimming, and Edge Lit are on the top tier models. After you spend an extra $1500, you can recoup your $30 a year savings in 5 years. Standard CFL LCDs are pretty efficient as is. Plasma is probably a little worried (there go your awesome black levels).

I wish they would ban immigrants and allowing tourists to become residents. More people move/escape here than I want to see everyday. Its so 'fucked up' why do the mutherfuckers keep coming? It sucks now stay away....
We need a good earthquake to shake out the shitbags and send um back to wherever they came from.

Fixed it for you. For such a kickass state (scenery) it sure bears the most idiotic laws imaginable. Next thing you know they'll ban farting.

On occasion, I feel bad for the citizens of California. They live in a initiative and referendum state, but their state legislature, state supreme court, governor and even attorney general get in the act of circumventing their rights.
Then it goes to the Supreme Court and what happens? Verdict. Unconstitutional.
Sometimes I can empathize with them for being uncommitted to such frustration.
Sometimes.
