This is so crazy it might actually work. Apparently there is a proposal to send section, or platoon sized militia units overseas. ie: on a future tour 3rcr para coy would have 2platoons of rcr and 1 platoon of qor.. This rumour originated at a brigade level conference held recently..scary isn't it

Yeah theres some things being posted on the Reserve Restructuring board at the DND website about this. I think its bullshit and shouldn't be done. In the US they send large sized units of National Guard over on peacekeeping missions. I don't trust soldiers who get medals for attendance and brushing their teeth but I don't really trust a lot of the soldiers that I currently work with in the militia either. Too bad we can't force people to re-muster through voting them out of our platoon. Might work to get people to do their job in this "charge free" militia of today. But then the military would be a democracy wouldn't it, and thats just not right. Hell we're probably going to have a union soon.

I've heard those rumours too, but that a Brigade or Area will put together a company (maybe each area puts up a coy, then we have a batt to go overseas)
I think this is great idea. The biggest problem with tours right now is that the reservists get looked down upon by the regs. Guys I know hated their tour just because of that.
I do think that we can find enough motivated, professional troops within an Area or Brigade to form a coy. However, NCO's and Officers above Platoon Commander should be Reg Force. At the moment, I would not want to go overseas with any reserve regiment, but taking the cream of an Area should be okay. And there would still be 3 months of intensive workups.
