http://gothamist.com/2009/10/28/muslims_request_to_move_bar_laughed.php
The lovely-looking restaurant and bar The Breslin begins lunch service tomorrow, and co-owner Ken Friedman (The Spotted Pig) is planning on serving alcohol despite objections from the Masjid Ar-Rahman mosque across the street. Earlier this month the mosque’s leaders called a meeting with Friedman at The Ace Hotel, where The Breslin is located, and asked, "Can you move the bar?" Friedman's response makes us want to hurry over to The Breslin right now for a dram of Laphroaig to show our support (and drown out the voices):
I laughed. And the guy said, "Oh, you think that’s funny?" And I said, "Yeah, that is funny, that is really funny, because we’re not going to move the bar just because you discovered we’re serving booze." Can you name one restaurant in New York that doesn’t serve booze? I said, "This is the United States of America and we’ll do whatever the fuck we want." He said the mosque had suggested it couldn’t control the behavior of "a few bad eggs"; i.e., we could get a brick through our window.
Friedman notified police of the threat, but just to show he's not a hard-hearted man, that it's not all dollars and cents, he agreed to put a curtain over the windows so devout Muslims wouldn't be corrupted by the sight of infidel inebriation. But the curtain hasn't arrived yet, so over the weekend he actually taped paper over the windows to hide a gay wedding. A volunteer at the mosque says city law forbids serving liquor within 200 feet of a place of worship and that "not more than 200 feet is between the mosque and the bar."
But Ace Hotel developer Andrew Zobler tells The Observer, "The law is clear that in order for that to apply it has to be an exclusively dedicated house of worship, and at their space they have both residences and a restaurant, so basically, because of those uses the law allowed there to be a bar within 200 feet. Everyone was aware of that when the liquor license was granted." And Friedman adds, "They can threaten, but they can’t really stop us." Yeah, heh, what are these devout, pissed-off Muslims gonna do?
I say- Bravo. If I live in New York City area, I would drink there 1 or 2 night a week as matter of principle. ;)
The only difference in my reply if I were bar owner is that I would counter with "And I can not control the behavior of a few thousand Bad New York Eggs who like to have a drink on occasion".

What's even more appalling is the comments made underneath the article. It shows you entrenched faggot backstabbing liberals there are in NYC. I can understand the imam trying to enforce his agenda on others- that's human nature. In fact, I would call all of my buddies GAY if they did not drop in and have dinner and a drink as well.
I'm sure someone will come back with "its the law." I think I agree with the restaurant owner -- what sit-down, takethewife restaurant today in NYC only serves food and non-alcoholic drinks?

There is a tremendous exchange between the Matt Damon character (Edward Wilson/Jesus Angleton) and the character (Joseph Palmi/Sam Giancanna) portrayed by Joe Pesci in the vastly underrated movie, The Good Shephard. It goes something like this:
Joseph Palmi: Let me ask you something... we Italians, we got our families, and we got the church; the Irish, they have the homeland, Jews their tradition. What about you people, Mr. Wilson, what do you have?
Edward Wilson: The United States of America. The rest of you are just visiting.

I am really starting to get pissed off about the Muslims in this country. Especially when one sees crap like this. I missed this because I was in FL. This happened pretty close to my house. So let me get this straight. She is living in the USA and is dressing and acting like a westerner so dad decides to run her down and try and kill her. That makes perfect sense to me. I just love their views on tolerance. They should deport his ass right back to Iraq.
http://edition.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/10/30/arizona.iraqi.daughter/index.html
Authorities said Friday that an Iraqi man accused of running down his daughter in Arizona because she had become "too Westernized" has been taken into custody in Atlanta, Georgia.
U.S. Marshals arrested Faleh Hassan Almaleki, 48, in Atlanta, according to spokesman James Ergas.
Police in Peoria, Arizona, say Almaleki struck his 20-year-old daughter, Noor Faleh Almaleki, and her friend Amal Edan Khalaf with the Jeep Laredo he was driving in a parking lot in Peoria on October 20.
After the incident, Almaleki drove to Mexico, abandoning his vehicle in Nogales, Peoria police said in a statement Friday.
He then made his way to Mexico City and boarded a plane to London, England. British authorities denied him entry into the country, and he was put on a plane back to the United States, police said.
Authorities arrested him late Thursday afternoon when he arrived at Atlanta's airport, police said, and he is awaiting extradition to Arizona.
He will face two counts of aggravated assault, police said.
Almaleki was angry with his daughter "as she had become too 'Westernized' and was not living according to [the family's] traditional Iraq[i] values," Peoria police said in a statement last week.
The daughter was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and remains "unresponsive," Peoria police said Friday.
Khalaf, 43, with injuries that are not life-threatening, is in serious but stable condition, police said.
Noor Faleh Almaleki lives with Khalaf, Peoria police said. They did not elaborate on how the two women knew each other.
Peoria is about 13 miles northwest of Phoenix.

While I agree there's no reason to move the restaurant, the gothamist was more than a little slanted. No evidence that anyone tried to force their agenda (a meeting and a request to move the bar), no sign there's some huge brouhaha (restaurant owner seemed to be more than cooperative), doesn't make sense that the guy who was considerate enough that he tried to put up a curtain and was discreet about a gay wedding would say 'we do whatever the fuck we want' just shit stirring from some blogger. There's no need to support every self-righteous asshole, fellas. And we don't do whatever the fuck we want. The USA I know does what we think is right.

Just out of curiosity (because I honestly don't know)...
Has the U.S. ever had this many problems with other immigrant cultures (other meaning, other than Arabs). I don't remember ever hearing of it, if it actually happened. I know that other cultures have kept a lot of their own by creating small ethnic communities within the U.S. (China Town) but none that I recall has ever tried to force the U.S. into changing to suite them........
That said, is it our recent policies (in the guise of "getting along") that are emboldening this type of behavior or something else?

IMHO, as we are a country of immigrants, the various hyphen Americans arrived here and did indeed migrate to areas where they could maintain their culture. That brought problems of their own i.e.; ethnic gangs, criminals etc. That being said, the goal for these immigrants was to assimilate and become Americans. Here, they were free to practice their respective religions and maintain cultural activities while learning new ones.
The various ethnic immigrants that practice Islam are for the most part the same as all that came before them. They have however, in my lifetime, pushed the envelope to have us become more tolerant of them then they are of us. Their silence concerning attacks and threats to the homeland I think speak volumes. The homegrown threat aside, The Brotherhood and organizations that purport to protect civil rights and or provide social programs and I’m not talking about the ACLU, in my experience are problematic. The goal of course is to return to the Caliphate and the U.S. and the western world is the prize. This is the condensed version due to every time I try to write a lengthy response it times out lol

My family had their names changes at Ellis Island because Jews couldn't get jobs. My great-grandfather sold sausages from a cart in Brooklyn so he could put his three sons through college. He didn't speak a lot of English but refused to let his sons speak anything else.
My grandfather worked the night shift and took classes during the day sleeping on the train each way. He was exempt from the draft during WW2 because he was a top student. He still joined the merchant marines right after college.
The Irish and Italians followed similar tracks... they fought / worked to be accepted - not to take over.
The Irish got a presidency the fastest I believe though...

Afghanis aren't Arabs, but they are Muslim.......
They are also of other faiths. That doesn't lessen the fact that the current threat is based more on geography than religion. That's like saying "The Christians" invaded Iraq and Afghanistan.
I think by making this into a religious issue, it takes away from the real issue of killing the right folks. It also empowers a small group in the same way that giving press attention to WestBoro Baptist gives them credibility.
.......I am getting sick and tired of other people coming to this country and ramming their stuff down our throats.

Diversity and its close cousin multiculturalism have now morphed far from what they were originally intended (which is a whole nother post on it's own). If I am to take the comments and feelings of the left literally...
"Multiculturalism" means seeing beauty in all cultures, except your own.
"Diversity" is the act of embracing neo-Marxists of all skin colors and sexual deviations.
