..okay there is no pathfinder platoon, but each recce pl. has pathfinder qual mbrs who form an adhoc pathfinder group... In order to get a spot on the course you have to be in a reg force recce pl. However, lets say you have Basic para, and jnco phs1&2. What you do is get yourself attached to the pathfinder course as a "follower". This will get you recce, and basic mtn.ops. As well, the next year you just might get DZ/LZ controller, and become a candidate...Having said that, ironically it's easier to apply for the six day

"followers" support the pathfinder course for the duration, ie. follow on force, or they might be used as hostages at chalk river facility, and as a result they end up going on a lot of patrols, as well as taking part in the mountain ops phase of the course
