My guess is that the crime rate in Canada must have rose by around 1,000% last night at midnight as the new gun legislation went through. All those people who do not have FAC's for their firearms are now criminals.
By the way, in case y'all didn't know, PELLET GUNS ARE NOW FIREARMS. Some yahoo makes plastic pellets that can go over 500fps in most pellet guns...so the RCMP declared them as firearms during the election.
SO anyone with a pellet gun, without an FAC is now a criminal. It also has to be locked up like all other firearms as well.
Nice eh? Theres a whole bunch of little criminals running around Canada right now with "dangerous weapons".
What next????

I have one question:
If you do not have an FAC, and you go into an RCMP station to apply for one, and they ask you if you already own a firearm...are you not admitting to a federal offence if you answer yes? This would make it absurd for anyone from this day forward to apply for an FAC would it not?

Yeah I was supposed to write the damn firearms test tomorrow morning but I had to get it changed to the 31st because I'm still recovering from New Years Eve which ended this morning for me.

There is a correlation between the permit of concealed weapons and the lowering of crime.
In other words, killing criminals is good.

Special Bulletin for Police No. 19
-Airguns-
-Snapshot-
Some media reports have recently claimed that millions of popular airguns must now be registered because they are capable of discharging new, lightweight pellets at a velocity exceeding the limit of 152.4 metres (500 feet) per second.
The Minister of Justice is responsible for determining whether airguns must be registered.
Further consultations and discussions are required before any new decisions are made.
In the meantime, the status quo prevails.
Under subsection 84(3) of Part III of the Criminal Code, airguns are not considered to be firearms for the purposes of the Firearms Act unless they were:
designed or adapted to discharge projectiles at a muzzle velocity of more than 152.4 metres (500 feet) per second, or
designed or adapted to discharge projectiles that themselves were designed to attain a velocity of more than 152.4 metres (500 feet) per second after they have been discharged.
The Government constantly assesses new and emerging technology to ensure that public safety standards are maintained. As well, the Firearms Reference Table (FRT) of known firearms is frequently updated as test results and other new information becomes available. However, the assignment of an FRT number does not automatically make an airgun subject to registration. The determination as to what constitutes a firearm for the purposes of licensing and registration lies with the Minister of Justice.
The tests of high-velocity pellets will not be the sole factor in making this determination. Several other factors must also be taken into consideration, including the manufacturer’s design specifications. Manufacturers and other interested parties will be consulted and various options will be examined before a determination is made.
In the meantime, the status quo prevails. There are no changes in the procedures that must be followed to purchase or sell airguns. If the manufacturer’s specifications indicate that the muzzle velocity of an airgun is less than 152.4 metres or 500 feet per second, a person does not need a licence to buy or possess it. As well, they do not have to go through the transfer process to get approval and to have the airgun registered. The FRT issued last May contains the relevant list of firearms to be used by verifiers, police and other FRT users.

Just so you all know. As of January 01/01 NO CANADIAN CITIZEN OWNS A FIREARM. This is true, ask your lawyer. All firearms title transfers to the Crown with registration. You get to RENT your weapons for 5 years for $60. Then you apply again. If your application is refused, guess what? I think you know. You no longer own firearms, you can only aquire a right to posses them. Thank you Mr Cretien.

Dont worry, boys. Just a few more years, then you'll be annexed. Citizens of US Territories can own all the firearms they like. But you'll have to put up with more Scientologists..
