Is it just me or are alot of the SNCO's and officers who post on that board gutless yes men. It seems as though they are posting comments that agree with CF policy perhaps in the hopes their superiors in NDHQ will see them toeing the party line. Surely these people can't believe that reserve training is "hard" anymore. Or that gender integration has done anything other than grossly reduce standards to the point where we are almost without any standards.
One officer on that board suggested we should be ashamed of ourselves for telling the truth to a young man thinking of joining his local reserve unit. Just curious as to what other Canadians think of the LFRR board and the officers who frequent it.
(By the way, I'm not tring to paint all officers with the same brush. I know there's a few about worth listening to)

I've posted a few comments on it but the people there are generally WOG officers who don't really know what is going on at the low levels. They generally wouldn't know a useful exercise if one hit them in the face. I do not consider most of their opinions as being based on any real experience. I'm growing pretty sick and tired of the whole situation. Plus with that board theres the whole thing about Big Bother watching. The last thing I need is to get in shit for something I write. I don't really think that, that board serves a real purpose anyway. I think it was created to appease certain people. I don't really think anything will come of the recommendations on the board.

I've noticed that the officers have the view of what they would like the reserves to be, the SNCO's know exactly what the reserves are all about and the cpls/pte's are just finding out. Makes for some entertaining reading. After reading all those posts, I think I can sum it up.

1)The army brass seems to be living in some kind of surealistic 80's yuppie management hangover nightmare. Too much empasis on change management, corporate type thinking, buzzwords, trying to isolate areas of concern, failed attempts to identify causes of problems, pandering political superiors, competing for attention, concern over image, careers and employment.
2)The soldiers want good training, good kit and good leadership.
3) Because there is too much of 1) there's no money for 2)
4) Because there's no money for 2), it creates the problems that perpetuate 1)
5) Repeat

I have to say, the more I read that board the more depressed I get. I think Canada should get the award for most demoralized (without llosing a single battle!)army in NATO.

There is so much potential in Canada, both for the Reg and Reserve Army. Excellent tradition, more than enough training areas, profesional NCO corps... but no, we're all armed and ready to meet the Russian hordes circa 1950, as long as they give us 365 days to mobilize and start real training.

But that's old news.
I was just reading the Aussie page on here. Apparently, until a couple years ago, Australia relied on their Reserves for their only Commando unit. Imagine that, a high-speed capacity that was successfully carried by only the Reserves (now there is a full-time Regiment).

A technical glitch or did they not like what they were hearing? It's been down since Friday.

Hey their Quimby...I am sure that it is not a "Big Brother" or Socialist problem on the board, as I am sure that you are thinking as you hide your weapons in your drywall. You know Canada, Someone 1) Got their feelings hurt, and they have to shut down the entire board and waste too much money to draw a poor and hasty conclusion, and therefore decide that computers are bad for the military and disband the use of such; or, 2) Some pogue got physically hurt typing or changing an ink cartridge somewhere and they have decided that EVERY computer may be flawed throughout Canada, and are shutting everything down for another investigation that we will never find out the results for, but miraculously, we are suddenly able to use computers again. (Despite the health threats).

I got this sneaky feeling that board won't be up for a while. I'll also wager that within, say, 6 months, we'll get some kind of "policy directive" about what we can post on govt boards. Looks like some officers just got the shock of their lives reading through those posts.

Damn rights, Cree. Two wrongs don't make a right, but in the CF hierarchy, they will not get out of that way of thinking. Kind of funny..."we want to hear what you have to say, just watch what you say, how you say it, and to whom you say it...but please, feel free to speak your minds." The whistleheads just do not get it.

The board has been down since last week.

Came back up with only older postings on it, and they retrieve page errors.

Based on the symptoms, my guess would be they've had a hard drive crash/memory dump.

I sent an email to the webmaster 48 hours ago, if I hear a response (beyond the 36 hour-late autoreply), I'll let you know.

There are no coincidences in the Mafia or the Government.

You can quote me, I just made that up.

Board is up and running again but posts from the last month have disappeared.
A conspiracy to silence us filth from the ranks or just another dumb pogue who can't do the job?

It's pretty sad when the troops immediatley suspect what could be just a common computer glitch to be censorship by the brass.. but I have to side with Quimby and TonyM, I think someone (officially or unofficially) decided to do a little editing...

The Board seems typical of military projects... nobody knows who's in charge of it, what it's being used for, or what is being done with the info we post.

Looks like things are rolling again. Someone contacted the capt in charge who reported "it was a glitch, the tech guys forgot to do a backup", ain't that a good one. Hope DND "remembers" to back up it's data every night. I can't seem to recall the last time I've installed a manual backup system for a client, all of whom are a lot smaller than the govt of Canada. Again, let me say, Hmmmmmmm........

Just over at the board. They're saying it was some dumb pogue who couldn't do the job. I don't buy it. It seems like censorship to me. Some of the officers over there are bitching about some remarks that were made in regards to gender integration, among other things. It seems to me some on that board want to know the truth, but only if it fits into their PC world. Others seem a little more open to listening to the troops.
Or at least paying lip service to that notion.
I seem to have been banned from the board. My old account doesn't work and all attempts to start a new account with the name Quimby have failed. Coincidence? I think not.
