This was on CBS yesterday... a good piece, covering a national treasure that needs to be made accessible by the public.

This is a HUGE piece of our national identity, and it is in a basement.

A very intriguing and sad story. Thanks for the link.

You would think that some of that Art could be donated out to some of the existing Army Museums that are located throughout the country. I am sure they could find some room. Makes better sense than to wait until a Musuem strictly for Art is created.

Wow, to think that this type of history could be lost.

The video brings up an interesting point; Why is it that the Army is the only branch without a national museum? The lady stated that it was a matter of funding which I would think is easily correctable.

This collection doesn't deserve to be in a basement.

This collection certainly doesn't belong in a basement.

This happens all too often IMO. Whether it is handcrafted historical art or archival photos collecting dust somewhere obscure.

I've been to a Pentagon a few times being a brat and all and the best part of any of those trips was seeing the paintings of past battles, leaders, and heroes.

The Armed Forces Retirement Home in DC has a room full of black and white photos going back just before WWII and through Korea. The room is air-conditioned and the humidity seemed decently regulated. The National Archives was moving to take the photos from them and digitize them, pending funding. The Archives has a really big plate to digitize as you can imagine.

We had a GSR Sgt in our unit that did some fantastic graphic art presentations on the back of MRE boxes.

A lot of scenes of harem chicks in various states of undress and...interactions.

I know Chicago had a public gallery on the south side which exhibited art work done by Viet Nam veterans. I'm not sure if its still in the same place but it was quite a large exhibit.
