This guy is going to be a challenge! The most gentle dog I've ever had/trained, but very independent (i.e. stubborn). He gets along great with my Catahoula mix.
This is Brinks...look at those ears!!!!!!!

About 9 months. We got him from a co-worker of my wife. She just could not take care of him and travel. Someone left him tied up to the Brinks alarm sign in her front yard, so she named him Brinks. He's no security system, that's for sure...Basenjis do not bark!
We get him fixed on Wednesday. It's a good thing...our Catahoula is just fascinated with Brinks' balls! He cannot leave them alone. He doesn't have his own.

Hmm, a non-barking dog. Nice. Are they just well-mannered like that?
Left him tied to the Brinks sign? That sucks!

It's a trait of the Basenji.

I gave a dog almost just like that one to my mom about 20 years ago, he was German Shepard colored, though. I always wondered what kind of dog he was because of the ears.
The funniest thing about him, though, was how protective he was of my mom. When her boyfriend would get ready to go out, the dog would get on the couch and actually lean into my mom so she couldn't get up and go with him.

Cool looking pooch you got there. I found some tips on this breed in case you want to take a look (http://www.basenjicompanions.org/tips/training/index.html).

Wow, what a dog! From the pics, it looks as if he's going to live up to his name, and be on alert 24/7...nice pup!

Nice pup! The Basenjis I have worked with were all nice, solid trainable dogs despite being hounds. He should still 'talk' to you, just no barking. And the name made me smile :)

And you have a Catahoula mix too? THey don't bark much either. That breed is afraid of NOTHING. My brother has a mix as well, and they are great dogs, and like I said, fearless.
Your new pup is a beauty too.

Has a set of ears like a Pharoah hound.
How did the Lab and the Basenji mate, Basenjis are also known for leaping above the elephant grass all day long.

Well, "mating" isn't going to be in this pup's future. He had a few crucial body parts removed!

From the look in Brinks' eyes (1st picture), pray that he never finds out who ordered the removal of his huevos. indeed!

My wife is familiar with Basenji's... and we have a Lab (yellow).. She was wondering if he barks? She said Basenji's make a weird sound instead of barking...but then he's a mix breed. He should be a fantastic dog tho! We rescued the lab we have from a ditch.. he's now the baby of the family.
