Any Socnetters close?

Seeking recommendations on Fort Wayne's:

Eateries
Sports bars
Dive bars
Brewpubs
Good Hotels - Hilton & Marriot appear to be it
Visually stimulating pubs
Stuff near the Universities.....
Not expecting a lot of down time, but if there is, what's available as far as outdoor activities?

Will be travelling in a pride of geeks on expense accounts.

I'm about 50 miles south, and we head up to Piere's when a good band is in town. Check them out here: Piere's (http://www.itstheparty.com/)
Casa's is an Italian joint that my wife and I hit when we go up there also, big menu, decent eating. Wrigley Field Bar and Grill sure does a ton of promotion, maybe Slick can advise on what kind of place that is.
I have a 200 yd range if you need to do some shooting, let me know.

I second Piere's. I've been there for concerts and it's a good time. Also, if you like seafood, check out the Oyster Bar downtown Ft. Wayne. The original one on Calhoun St. is the best. Nice little bar and great food that is reasonably priced!

I'm familiar with that area. I'll shoot you a PM.

I think they have a pretty good minor league hockey team in Fort Wayne, too. Along the lines of the Chicago Wolves, although I don't think they're an AHL franchise.

Like Spinner said, if you like hockey you should check out the Komets. The tickets are cheap and (unless things have changed) they get a pretty good turnout.

I've never been to Piere's, but they and 98.9 The Bear bring in some pretty awesome bands.

On the off chance you're a Corvette guy, take the half hour drive to Lingenfelter.

If the Oyster Bar on Calhoun is anything like it was in the mid-90's, it's a must. Very tiny but comfortable. Outstanding food and great bar (assuming Steve still own's the place).
