Now, I am not a big fan of the President, and I do think he took a little too long to come to this decision, but I do think that any responsible sitting President would have come to the eventual conclusion.
But the Anti-war left doesn't like this..

Not for nothing, the President campaigned that "We took our eye off the ball in Afghanistan'', and said he would do what he could to WIN the war there. This is something he stated repeatedly.
So, why is the Anti-War left surprised and upset? Bunch of Fucktards.

I have no idea.
Their mindset is so foreign to me that I can understand the motivations behind 13th century goat humpers better than them.

This "middle / low end - trickle in the troops" approach is contrary to what was requested by his hand picked Commander on the ground 18 weeks ago and is not "doing what it takes to win the war" here in Afghanistan.
His eye, hands, gloves, feet, and everything else REMAINS off the ball in Afghanistan.
Of course, he has been to 20 some odd countries already - just NOT HERE since his campaign stop. No real need I guess, being the "Command in Chief" and all...

I'll be curious to see what he says tonight at West Point.
I figured he had made some sort of decision due to my brother notifying us he would be deploying in the next month or so (Navy Corpsman) over a week ago.
I just hope he has a specific goal/goals for A'stan.

I can't stand to see the man speak, but I'll be tuning in tonight. All I ask is to make the strategy clear and show some balls. Take ownership and whatever he decides to do, provide the necessary tools and see it through to the end.

The President has no tremendous number of friends inside his own party. I believe many Democrat Politicos are chomping at the bit to stick it to him as soon as it is feasible. I thought Health Care Reform would be one opportunity they would take -- perhaps the Astan occupation (we won the "war" a long time ago) will be another.
One of the problems with being the type of President this one is choosing to be, is that you end of alienating pretty much everyone. The only time this seems to work, and I think that even then there is a time limit, is if you move to become a dictator(ish) -- ie Chavez or Ahmedinejad (some may disagree with me that these two moved in that direction, your right to do so, of course).
This President is trying to be remembered for being a great President, not trying to be a great President. I think there is a difference.
I also think that lives are being wasted in Astan, and this "announcement" will not reverse that. If anything, the badguys are already breaking out the celebratory 6 y/o boys and roasted lamb....

That right there is sig line material.
Not surprising at all really that the moonbats are going after him. After all we're going to be out of Iraq in 30 days (if we are to believe his campaign promises), Gitmo has been closed (another one of his promises)... the list is endless.
I'd swear sometimes he's got the "How to Fuck Up" checklist in hand.
